...for supposedly invoking images of 9/11 i'd love to get pissed about this, but i'm too busy 'never forgetting'[Edited on December 20, 2011 at 11:47 AM. Reason : .]

I'm sure the people at Pepsi's headquarters are saying "Allahu ackbar jihad, y'all!" at this very moment.

Someone on the WRAL page posted this, and said it was "obviously the burning twin towers" but I really don't see it. I can see how one could *argue* it's the twin towers, but I don't think it has to be, and I don't see anything burning. And the plane is clearly above the towers

I don't get the pepsi can.

this ad came out in 2002 and was pulled after numerous complaints

Seriously? I can see it more in the Starbucks ad, IF YOU'RE SEARCHING FOR SOMETHING TO BE OFFENDED ABOUT. But I never would have jumped to that conclusion on my own. Ever. Dangerous dragon flies.[Edited on December 20, 2011 at 11:54 AM. Reason : ]

After end of semester exams we would have a week of classes for some god unknown reason so in my class we would use them to play silly ESL games. Pictionary was one of the games. One of the categories was "world cities" and the team that got NYC immediately started drawing a plane smashing into the twin towers. They won that round

The other teacher in the room at the time was looking at me like thinking I was going to get super butthurt about it but little did she know my years on tww have desensitized me to almost everything.

Agree with most of what everyone else is saying... 'obvious emo is obvious'. Some people just have to have something to get pissed about. It's an event... it happened... you can remember it without being afraid to talk about it. Something like what Jeepin4x4 posted would be more "disrespectful", but just something that resembles the image obviously isn't trying to piss of anyone. I like what wolfpackgrrr said about the Pepsi people screaming "Allahu ackbar jihad, y'all!" in their offices. That was the exact thought that came to my head when I saw the thread about the building designers in S. Korea.

so anytime planes and buildings are featured together in any sort of context, we should assume its a 9.11 reference?

well, thats never going to happen, so get over it and just ignore them. this is how we deal with it
12/21/2011 12:21:05 AM
i find it a little bit difficult to believe that the group of (presumably) more than one "middle eastern" person that were designing the can didn't go "okay two buildings, and a commercial jet flying low... fuck it, just keep it".[Edited on December 21, 2011 at 12:49 AM.
