This is truly frustrating. I make too much to apply for federa;, state or local financial assistance, but I don't take enough home to pay all the bills....it is not like I wanted to be like this....no one does.

Clearly you must quit your job, then.Or, go back to basics and get rid of some bills by any means necessary.Or, join Occupy Wall Street.Or, drop off the radar and take only cash jobs and you travel the country.Lots of options.[Edited on February 2, 2012 at 6:53 PM. Reason : .]

This is not sustainable. Something has got to give.

Pick an option:Spend LessWork moreWork harderWork smarter

Yup, pretty simple solutions here fella. Either decrease your expenditures or increase your income. I suggest trying to find something approx. 20 hrs. a week, maybe overnight. It's amazing how much of a difference an extra $400-500 a month makes, and on top of that you'll probably go out less and spend less because you'll be working more.

Hit the gym.Quit Facebook.
2/2/2012 7:17:51 PM
well I dont have any internet...no cable tv...use 2 small space heaters instead of the HVAC electric heat....it is the seperation and divorce that has put me where I am....I have a decent job and haven't had any problems until 2011. I have cut to the core. I cannot cut back anymore.
2/2/2012 7:27:12 PM
yeah I could work more hours but am so depressed and tired.......plus I got to visit with my girls in the evenings...
2/2/2012 7:28:13 PM
my house was robbed before Christmas...my car died forever on 01-06-2012....and now the electric wiring is screwed up in the house...and my well pump died for the 3rd time in four years. I can no longer afford this house. It has been cursed and a money pit since I bought it...it even passed a very thorough inspection before I bought it....very bad bad luck that shows little signs of letting up so I live for the day.
2/2/2012 7:32:42 PM
I don't want to hear it. I worked 90-100 hours a week for 2+ years. It can be done.
2/2/2012 7:33:11 PM
for the OP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhyVIluOwKg
2/2/2012 7:35:43 PM
I guess I sympathize with the OP because I know how it is not making enough to support yourself even after working 70+ hours a week for 6 months.
2/2/2012 7:37:49 PM
Kurtis636 > you don't want to hear it then get the hell out of this thread...Asshole.Unsympathetic bastard. I used to be in the Army so I know what it is like to work my ass off....

I have no assets..she took everything of value....All my family lives in Indiana and my dad passed away many years ago. My mom got laid off when her job went to Mexico so no help there....Hoping for a good tax return to help me get another car and help find another place to live. The Veteran's Administration said they can help with "transistional housing"
2/2/2012 7:54:57 PM
actually for the house I am in the rent is compariable because it is Northern Durham Co. I am trying to get it sold but there is so many little things wrong with it that I am really screwed either way
2/2/2012 7:56:56 PM
GET A [BETTER] JOB, HIPPIE.]
2/2/2012 8:23:20 PM
whatever.
2/2/2012 8:23:54 PM
The government isn't here to bail you out. Quit whining and figure out the solution on your own.
2/2/2012 8:25:09 PM
I would literally rather live off the government than work another crappy job in my life.
2/2/2012 8:30:53 PM
I am figuring it out. The government doesn't owe me anything. But I work and pay taxes for people who could work but don't and they get the assistance I could really use right now. Ultimately it is my life and my own worry. Big banks get bailed out. Mortgage companies got bailed out. Other countries get bailed out.....US tax dollars pissed away..... I have even been told to quit a job just so I could get assistance.
2/2/2012 8:31:51 PM
Found your problem. You got married.
2/2/2012 8:33:00 PM
That's why the government should stop bailing out people, companies, and countries.
2/2/2012 8:33:27 PM
They should. But, in the meantime, you should milk the same system that is fucking you over.
2/2/2012 8:34:11 PM
wdprice3 > I sincerely hope you never get into a position that you need assistance.D357r0y3r > I cannot milk a system that has dried up.
2/2/2012 8:41:39 PM
soap box=wrong subforum. let me move this for you...
2/2/2012 8:43:53 PM
clearly, your problem is because of illegal immigrants, welfare queens....um, let's see...muslims, probably?
2/2/2012 8:44:16 PM
2/2/2012 8:44:28 PM
What's wrong with your car?If you can still make the mortgage I'd say stay in the house and not worry about the small shit that goes wrong there. Selling the house is going to be tough, no doubt.I hear you on the alimony/child support, that can be a real bitch.
2/2/2012 8:45:45 PM
Bloomington is a nice townbut regardless of where you arehave you considered going back to school?get those student loans for now to help you through...profit?
2/2/2012 8:49:14 PM
since you've got a piece of property you could plant a garden this springthat could save you some moneyyou can also visit food banks for assistance
2/2/2012 8:53:42 PM
I'll be the first person to tell you that you're just getting the shit trolled out of you because you posted this in chit chat, zifnab.Good luck with the financial stuff. Also, moron, a lot of rentals really are priced the same or worse than a mortgage these days unless you have an HOA. Interest rates are ridiculously low and buying a house is really pretty affordable. I mean I'm paying about as much for this house I'm closing on tomorrow as I would be (monthly) for a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment in a similar area. Granted, I'm in Cary, but still I'm amazed that these corporate-managed apartments around here try to rent for $1100+/mo when I can buy a house for slightly less than that with a bit more square footage and on half an acre.
2/2/2012 9:20:38 PM
He actually posted it in TSB. It got moved to chit chat.
2/2/2012 9:25:03 PM
so have you actually applied and been turned down for assistance?they take into account alimony/child support and even your bills to determine if you qualify for food stamps, everything else is much harder to get but a couple hundred a month can help a lot.but definitely consider a big change/move because this kind of stress will knock years off your life.
2/2/2012 9:33:04 PM
2/2/2012 9:52:39 PM
Yup, God wants there to be poor people. He would totally be against high taxes.
2/2/2012 9:59:24 PM
"The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat."Pro 13:4There is nothing wrong with increasing taxes to help people out of poverty or support the destitute, but perhaps someone can answer me why when people suggest drug testing welfare recipients everyone thinks it's some huge slap in the face by some super rich pricks?I had to get drugged tested for my partime job, which I'd imagine was less than gov't welfare. So in order to make money I can't be a drug addict, but to receive support I can do w/e I want. There is a difference between the gov't handling social security and "If there be among you a poor man of one of your brothers within any of your gates in your land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother:"Deut 15:7The moral of the story is when we create a system where one could easily receive money for nothing as work for money. Why would they work for money? So instead of helping people get back into jobs, which is difficult seeing as only the gov't is hiring, and there aren't exactly the best at a balanced budget, we just create a dependence system.
2/2/2012 10:18:02 PM
Why...do you post this...so often...
2/2/2012 10:24:22 PM
Wouldn't this have been more appropriate for the lounge? Also, OP's situation sucks. I wish you the best.
2/2/2012 10:26:25 PM
Yeah, get back to your spiderman pictures guy.

2/2/2012 10:35:56 PM
well this is like wow....this thread got moved to Chit Chat....not the place I'd pick for it.....but whatever. My home is in foreclosure and I live in NC not Indiana...that is where my mom lives. I work and my kids are here in the triangle....so moving back home without them is not an option. I am also seperated and going through a divorce. I have been turned down for all financial assistance by Durham Co Social Services and the like. The Veteran's Admin. will help but only when I am almost homeless due to limited space. I have qualified for some type of legal aid to assist me in the foreclosure process but will not know how until next week...I didn't really start this thread to recieve sympathy or to stir up things. I am just an average guy and posting things here helps because it is like talking about it....it gets things off my chest....

^ my father honest to god might be twins with Gingrich. Same hair (except my dad's hair is black and has big glasses), and his political views are quite similar.and his overall bullshitting is pretty comparable.

Good luck zifnabYou're doing the right thing by staying close to your kids, hope things look better sooner rather than later!
