How did it happen? No idea how one feels vs the other.

If I punched it again, would you cry?

I broke a bunch of ribs and my sternum... I don't know what you are complaining about.Oh, how I could wish I could go back and change it all.

The amount of swelling would be the difference. Other than that, if it still hurts like 2 weeks from now, theyre broken

I would suggest sleeping on your side... it is the best position. I use to position pillows in the front and back with blankets so I would stay that way. Did it for months... sleeping was actually the most painful... standing upright wasn't as bad.

Can you move, does it hurt to take in a deep breath or laugh? Is there swelling and bruising? X-ray or MRI is the only way to know for sure, imo.

Even though its really painful, if you can sit up in bed (even if you have to use your arms), roll over(even if you have to use your arms), bend down at the waist and then return to standing position, etc, they're not broken. Most likely just bruised or perhaps you damaged the connective tissue that holds everything together.I've hurt my ribs three times in my life. Twice involved being drunk on a bicycle and the other was a gnarly high speed spill while knee boarding w/out a life vest. Everyday will get a little less painful. Expect to feel it for two/three weeks. Hurts the most right when you wake up.Pray to God you don't get sick while you're injured. Coughing hurts. Blowing your nose hurts. Sneezing is down right excruciating.Holler at a doctor or your boy down the street for some Vicodin.

Ugh, 3 times? I'm lucky it only happened to me once. I don't even know how I got in and out of bed for a good month+. Sneezing and coughing was the worst. But, yeah, if it is really, really bad... go see a doctor. There isn't a whole lot you can do for broken ribs, but I was advised the worst you can do is baby them by trying to reduce your breathing (diagphram) and they don't heal properly. I had to do some breathing exercises and that did help over time.I think the worst possibility is if a rib fragment detaches and punctures an organ, but that is highly unlikely. I've bruised ribs on a separate occasion and there is a pretty big difference, but both are painful.

^^ I broke 3 ribs and could do all those things right away. Everyone's different.
