I always thought of those stores like the Discovery Channel stores: a bunch of people will play with in store but never really consider buying. I'm sort of surprised that they're still open when better deals on similar items can be found online through Woot/slickdeals/etc..

i'm really interested in the sleep sounds machine, but $170 for a bedside alarm clock is ridiculous even if it is scientifically designed for brain waves and stuff like that. right now streaming Echos on my phone is my white noise/sleep inducer.

Mostly overpriced, can usually buy the same shit for cheaper with different names on it.

Sis and bro-inlaw got me a supposedly nice "grill lamp" that lasted all of about 2 weeks. That was extremely disappointing.

Got a beer machine from there. It got me started home brewing and I still use it. It's a step up from standard domestic beers and while it's not actual home brewing it's not bad.

in high school a good friend of mine worked at a Brookstone Kiosk in the local mall. Two Christmas's in a row me and a couple friends would stop by, pick out a couple things we liked, do a lap around the mall, and once we got back he would have our stuff wrapped up in boxes for us to take home, for freeI got my dad a nice flask set for Christmas one year. cool story bro

I remember about 10 years ago when those little remote controller helicopters got big, store employees would always be flying them around in the store (as well as those big propeller thing that you shoot with the laser) but would never let customers play with them. Horrible way to try and get people to buy them.

It's a neat store for people without the Internet I mean you can get pretty much everything they sale online for a whole lot cheaper

I got a pair of Sharper Image earbuds for $6 from TJMAXX a year or two ago and they still work and sound good.

^ My parents gave me one of those several years ago and I really liked it. Not so much that I'm going to spend $300 on a new one, but until it broke, it really helped keep the dog smell out of my living room.
