If you were to choose between:Amstel LightNewcastleStellaDos Equis AmberWhat do you think the vast majority would like the most as a whole? I don't want to get beer that only the dudes will like...help tDub. help

I love Stella and dos equis. For a keg I would get the does equis and some cut up limes for the girlies.
1/14/2014 7:15:04 PM
Those are all terrible beers, so just go the cheap route
1/14/2014 7:15:58 PM
Stella has been the most well received in my group of friends from both guys and gals, though of that list I'd personally prefer Newcastle. And why is this your only selection?
1/14/2014 7:16:40 PM
Just looking at beers that I enjoy and my friends will too. Having a small get together for my 30th and will have 25 guests. I want one the vast majority will enjoy and don't want 2/3 of a keg left over at the end of the night. I don't mind finishing it off the next day if necessary, but I don't own a kegerator anymore and my ability to kill off a keg with 15 guys and 10 girls may be in the rear view mirror.I had thought about Raleigh Brewing Company beers, but with craft beers, I think it is harder to find something that the vast majority would like. I like pale ales and hoppy beers, but many people don't, so I wanted a decent mainstream beer.[Edited on January 14, 2014 at 7:22 PM. Reason : ]

If you like craft beer you could always get a pony keg of something that's more your style (it is your birthday afterall) and another that's going to be more universally accepted.Otherwise, I stand by my Stella recommendation, especially if you're looking for something the ladies will enjoy.

girls hate beernext question
1/14/2014 7:40:36 PM
false
1/14/2014 8:06:36 PM
newcastle is the only one you'd really have to gamble on people hating.
1/14/2014 8:53:16 PM
Given that list, I'd choose NewcastleAs someone who definitely doesn't like pale ales or hoppy beers
1/14/2014 9:03:19 PM
Tell your guest (or the ones you give a most fuck about) what your decision(s) is(are) and tell em they can bring whatever else if they wantits your birthday, you can drink what you want todrink what you want todrink what you want to.[Edited on January 14, 2014 at 10:11 PM. I'd definitely go with Newcastlewho the fuck doesn't like Newcastle?maybe I'm a stupid loser with a pathetically small circle of acquaintance, but I've never met anybody who claimed not to like Newcastle. it was my ex's go-to beer, in fact.
1/14/2014 10:48:18 PM
Newcastle is ridiculously inoffensive.Stella, Amstel Light, and Dos Equis wouldn't ever make the list.Actually some of my friends might disown me if I got a keg of Stella.Tell you what, go with what you know your friends like on the whole, go with the suggestion of "I am getting a keg of *blank*, please bring your own beer if you would like otherwise, or I'll snag another pony keg if I get enough requests for a certain beer".
1/14/2014 10:52:51 PM
Forgive me if i'm wrong here...and i most certainly could be and this could have already been mentioned, but with something like Newcastle you have to consider the type of tap as well. Perhaps Stella and everything else you mentioned initially also qualifies for the sankey tap or whatever its called. But all those brands are not universal. I would just ask your female friends for their opinion and assume all male guests will go along with it. Or just try and get something by New Belgium. Just my2cents yadig?

If a person drinks beer, they should be fine with most any beer you are serving, regardless of their gender. Ultimately, you should expect as much diversity in the preferences of beer-drinking females as you would expect to find in males...and again, they will enjoy whatever you offer. But, for real, I personally like beer with pretty packaging. So maybe you could dress up the keg with some bows and shit."OMG, I LOVE IT!!!! "

fuck it, it's your birthday get drunk and don't give a shit, that's what I'm doing in 2 weeks

It's your party. Get what you drink. If they turn down free beer, fuck them. They are probably assholes.

I wouldn't drink any of those, I'd prefer to bring beer that I like. And when I go to a party I bring more than I drink so other people can have some or the hosts end up with the extra. My wife would bring a nice bottle of wine or two.I thought that's how it always worked for people no longer in college

I have come across this same issue when planning for a party. I do have a kegerator but many times I don't know if I have enough left in there for the party so I buy a second one just in case. The problem is that one of them needs to be empty at the end of the party or the next day because they won't both fit in the kegerator. I like hoppy beers like you do but when it comes to parties that is hard to pull off. This last time I had Killians in the kegerator and Miller Lite to back it up on ice with a tap.You can get a pony keg of something you really like and then another pony keg of something simple like mentioned above. I know it costs a little more and you need a second tap but it's an option.

did this in November for Thanksgiving. I went with Blue Moon. Flame away but it was a hit with the females, and guys will drink anything. Keg was killed by nights end.
1/15/2014 8:39:01 AM
I'd also go the cheap-o beer route if you're looking for crowd pleasing. Get yourself a pony for everyone that prefers higher quality beer.
1/15/2014 8:39:47 AM
From the selection listed my vote is for Stella. It's a higher quality session drinking beer than the usual swill you often see at parties (BL, ML, CL, Yeungling, etc) and isn't heavy enough to fill people up.Also, lot of snobby beer drinkers in this thread. Get the fuck over yourselves.

This is why I ended up doing bottles rather than kegs at my wedding. I didn't want to restrict myself to one or two types of beer and it wasn't a big enough event to justify more than 2 kegs. It was probably a little more expensive but it made more sense (had Sam Adams summer ale, Sierra Nevada pale ale, Heineken, and Corona for the bud light types.)
1/15/2014 9:21:21 AM
Our wedding beer ended up being a dollar a bottle and we would have only gotten one keg and we ended up using 300 bottles of beer. I'm very glad we chose bottles. I doubt this dude has 90 people coming to his birthday party though.
1/15/2014 9:24:06 AM
Hoppyum.
1/15/2014 1:14:54 PM
I ended up going to Peace Street Market and got the Natty Green Buckshot Amber. I like this beer, it is marginally less than the ones listed above and I think the ladies may enjoy this too. My wife really enjoys it. We love their brown ale too, but that is more hit or miss.I appreciate everyone's insight.
1/15/2014 2:41:07 PM
not trying to troll but Newcastle is one of the only beers I can't stand. I honestly don't get why so many people like it so much
1/15/2014 5:22:52 PM
Avery the Beast is always a solid choice.
1/15/2014 5:27:31 PM
ODouls would have been good.....
1/15/2014 5:45:05 PM
Gives us a choice of 4, ultimately goes with something offlist, what a Douche Bag.JK, Buckshot Amber is definitely a superior beer to those 4.
1/15/2014 5:59:33 PM
good call. if they don't like it, fuck em.
1/15/2014 6:06:02 PM
jesus christ. These are all terrible, terrible beers. Especially the Buckshot. But glad you guys like it!
1/15/2014 9:55:44 PM
