Are you old enough to remember when laundry was mostly a mechanical process? Now it's mostly a chemical process, with the mechanical motion being less important.

To answer your question though. It doesn't matter all that much. Tide, Gain, all, Persil... 4 of one, a third dozen of another.

I use tide liquid, oxiclean powder, gain beads and gain dryer sheets...think i'm gonna keep the beads and experiment with dryer sheets

Maybe just avoid them if you have sensitive skin. They can leave a small film on your clothes that leads to skin irritation or excess build up of yeast on your back or chest. However, I do use dryer sheets with bed sheets and comforters.
