OK, so I just got back from LA. While in some uppity brewhouse, I tried a bottle of Maredsous 8. Thanks to it being LA, the shit cost $9/bottle. But I tried it anyway based on the description. This is my new favorite beer. Absolutely delicious. Total wine sells it, but only in Pint bottles. I think I'll try Trader Joe's next. Flying Saucer and Raleigh Times have it on tap (or at least that was of a few months ago). I'm going to check it out hopefully this weekend to see how it is on tap.Just thought I'd put that out there.

Absolutely fucking ridiculous:Sammy Smith Winter Welcome. They only carry it during the winter season though. Me and my last girlfriend broke up right before Christmas after I had already bought her a bunch of gifts (ipod nano among other things). The only thing I wanted back was a 4-pack of this beer that I left in her fridge. After that I really do love Chimay. Preferably the red cap...but enjoy the blue and white caps also:And this beer might give the Winter Welcome a run for its money. I've only had it a couple times though. Need more research :
8/13/2008 12:33:58 PM
I have a fancy Chimay glass....never tried the stuff though!

the chocolate stout is really good.i've have to say that i don't have a favorite, just a grouping of favs...rogue hazelnut would probably be my all around fav (b/c it's smooth AND tasty).
8/15/2008 12:39:56 AM
I'm not sure which chocolate stout you people are talking about but this one blows all the other ones out of the water:

^^Brooklyn Brown is one of my favorite brown ales (their lager is great too), if you get a chance you should check out Terrapin India Brown Ale...it's pretty damn good also[Edited on August 19, 2008 at 1:33 PM. Reason : .]
8/19/2008 1:33:00 PM
^^ I'm not sure if that was a joke or not, but I actually think Steel Reserve is about the best beer you can get for the price.Especially triple export.[Edited on August 19, 2008 at 1:33 PM. Reason : ]

Has anyone else had Shock Top? I tried one at a Bulls game and I usually like Belgian whites, but this one had way, way too much citrus.
8/19/2008 1:46:45 PM
I can't afford to try awesome beers in a bar. Them shits are like $6-9 here on average.
8/19/2008 1:49:17 PM
its always hard for me to say no when i order a beer that i have no idea how much it is and they come back and tell me its a $10 bottlebecause i guess i want to look high rollin or somethingwell that rogue american ale was $10 but a least it was 2 pints

I hadn't heard of it at the time, but I saw a sign for it and figured I'd try something new ... bad idea. I need to not be so heavily influenced by signage.

^ bud select is a light beer... if you don't like light beers you won't like it.If you mean coorslight and not traditional coors i'd be confused on your tastes but coors orig and yeugling are both good for "foodlion beers" your import tastes suck thoughDog fish head 90min ipa is a staple of mine and simply the best ipa I've found (I've had probably 50-100) Highland's oatmeal porter is also amazing but on a different scale of awesome. also i like Red hook's autumn ale and winter hook... bummer they're bud owned beers.-f001[Edited on September 2, 2008 at 11:16 AM. Completely forgot about Allagash. Fan of the regular Allagash White...because you can actually find it in a lot of bars and it's relatively cheap for a good wheat beer. But these two Allagashes are pretty fucking awesome:Allagash BlackAllagash Tripel
