LA wouldn't take this team off our hands if we paid them to
9/15/2013 4:19:47 PM
The worst thing that happened to Ron Rivera was Norv finally getting fired. Cause now he can't just point at Norv & say, well at least I'm not as bad as him

Coaching to lose
9/15/2013 4:20:31 PM
I turned it off after they went up by six knowing 100% they were gonna lose by one. That's how bad it has become there was no doubt in my mind that's how it was gonna go. At least the Chargers won glad I switched to that game.

Is lovie Smith available, is he a coordinator this year somewhere? I would love to get him
9/15/2013 7:34:56 PM
^ Normally I'd say yes but we need to get an offensive guru involved.Gruden might be the best fit if you want a known commodity.

I don't think Rivera is cut out for an NFL head coaching gig, although I think he's gotten a little betterBut how much of this do you think could be improved with a good OC? I mean, our offense looked pretty baller 2 years ago with Chud, but our defense wasn't good. Then last year, we went 7-9 and lost like 5 games in the last 2 minutes, due to age defense. Now our defense seems pretty legit, assuming the shitload of injuries suffered today aren't serious ones. I'm not ready to give up on the season yet, though I do think the coaching staff has a lot of work to do.Couple other things:- Home teams were 10-2 today (at one point...after 12 games had been completed obviously)...so we weren't the only team who should've won on the road but didn't- Buffalo isn't a very good team but they're not terrible. They're not as good as Seattle, but they gave the Pats all they could handle last week, and barely beat usBut they did beat us, and the Pats have issues until they get some healthy WRs/TEsI don't know how I feel about firing a HC/OC mid-season. While I don't think Shula is a good OC, one of the criticisms of the gameplan versus Seattle was being too conservative. Some said that was good for Cam, that he wasn't forcing it and took what the defense gave him. Unfortunately the Seattle defense doesn't give much. So it seemed one of the adjustments today was to go downfield more often, which we did. We took shots, but unfortunately Cam overthrew a lot of balls downfield. The Ginn TD was promising, but kind of an outlier of the day. I blame Cam a good bit for inaccurate passes. But YET AGAIN, just like last year, we were in a position to win a game, and our defense couldn't hold up. That final play was such a terrible miscommunication. Stevie Johnson couldn't have been more wide open. I would've loved to see a batted ball on that play and to see Buffalo have to go for it on 4th down, obviously. I'd rather lose with Buffalo making a spectacular scoring play on 4th down to win than a pathetic blown coverage play on 3rd down/rant #emo #yolo #fuck
9/15/2013 8:22:14 PM
I have no idea how anyone could make the claim that Rivera has improvedhe makes the same mistakes every week, which is exactly why we all knew we were going to lose that gamethere's a chance that I'll settle down by next Sunday, but as of now, I don't plan on watching another Rivera-coached game
9/15/2013 11:00:26 PM
I just want to know why now after 3 seasons, Cam still releases ball late. He waits until well after wr's make their break. The ball should be in flight 1-2 seconds before he typically throws it. It would also help our OL from having to block for 5+ secs.I don't have a problem with his accuracy, just his decision making.
9/16/2013 9:59:58 AM
so does Kuechly get a free pass for the pass interference penalty that stopped the clock and gave them 1st down on the 11?
9/16/2013 10:17:54 AM
The team lost the game, not Kuechly. That being said, it sure didn't help. Ron Rivera is one of the worst NFL head coaches I've ever seen. I think a lot of the blame should start there and trickle down.

Meh. I am not a Panther fan, but you guys need to give up on the "season's over" bullshit. You sound like NC State fans. It's only 2 games into the season. Start crying like this when you are 0-4.
9/16/2013 10:34:12 AM
All that really needs to be said

^^ WTF is Rivera wearing - jockey boxers with a button down dress shirt. He should be fired for that outfit. His legs look abnormally small compared to his enormous torso.[Edited on September 16, 2013 at 3:32 PM. Reason : sd]

9/16/2013 3:36:23 PM
Does the owner or the GM typically make the head coaching hire or is it some sort of combination?
9/16/2013 3:44:33 PM
Officially the GM has the power. But a GM would only dare make a move like that with the owner's approval.
9/16/2013 9:15:40 PM
yet everyone says richardson wasn't very happy with the hirekind of torn on whether cam is going to be a great qb at this point, he's reminding me a little of post superbowl mcnabb (when he was still kind of good and on the eagles still) minus the obesity but holy hell if we had drafted gabbert number one the franchise might be wiped off the map
9/17/2013 11:13:23 AM
Definitely some red flags with his decision making and footwork in the pocket in his 3rd year. But then again, we never expected him to be Peyton Manning. It's clear there isn't anyone on the coaching staff right now capable of bringing out the best in him. My biggest concern, and before I say this know that I absolutely hate this sort of football lingo, he doesn't seem like a "student of the game". I've never heard the man take a deep dive talking coverages, blocking schemes, routes, etc... He just doesn't seem like a dude who spent all off season watching game tape. I can't even remember seeing him looking at play charts or those sideline photographs they are always printing out. Maybe I'm totally off here, but I think he's still trying to get by primarily on natural ability.
9/17/2013 12:07:07 PM
^ football lingo like that is only prevalent after a few bad gameswe've all seen how great he can be and has been in the past and none of us were talking like that then. it's clear that they are trying to turn him into a dropback passer instead of just letting him loose and letting his talent take over. the league is moving in one direction while this staff is attempting to go in the other direction while they coach the one QB who is absolutely ideal for the read-option
