damn, we did drop the ball on the Russell shirts.Let's get the "Classic Mike Glennon" shirts going now
9/13/2011 8:17:45 AM
Cowherd listing Russell as a NFL QB along with other in the discussion about replacing Peyton in 2-3 yrs. Says they (Luck, K. Moore, Griffin, Wilson, Barkley, etc) are good QB and can be good in the NFL. mainly about there are a number of QB in the NCAA that are good that will be coming out in the next 2-3 yrs, but he did list Russell. i think he just forgot about Mike Glennon.

I love it. As a QB at an ACC school the media thinks he just doesn't have what it takes for pro football. Two games of whooping up on cupcakes at a Big 10 school and he's starting NFL quarterback material.
9/13/2011 12:16:21 PM
lol - not only do you listen to cowherd, you actually repeat what he saysdo you also find bleacher report slide shows to be stimulating?[Edited on September 13, 2011 at 12:41 PM. Reason : .]

Some might speculate that he knew his chances of getting into the NFL would be much greater if he played his final season in the Big 10, and it just so happened that the transfer rule just changed to alllow him to do it... so he forced TOB to make The Decision. Again, that's all speculation of course.
9/13/2011 12:42:38 PM
I mean, everybody knows the QB on the best team always at least gets drafted, even if he doesn't start in the NFL. The QB on the team that loses 7 games, even if they lose because of defense, gets drafted far less often.I guess what I'm saying is if Russell had that in mind, I don't really blame him.
9/13/2011 12:45:16 PM
all this talk should probably calm down until wiscy plays a school that admits men
9/13/2011 12:54:43 PM
Of course Wilson knew he had a better chance of going pro if he played well against tougher opponents. Why even question that?Wilson wasn't as good as expected at baseball, so he did what he had to do to put himself in the best position, and that is transfer to Wisconsin. He could have gotten some level of fame and fortune in the ACC, but not near as much as he's getting now.Case in point is Tyrod Taylor, who won the ACC championship and went in the 6th round for like $310,000 or something (that's the number I heard, not sure if it's accurate). Christian Ponder went much higher but he has traits Wilson didn't possess. Wilson is more comparable to Taylor, in my opinion.*EDIT* I should note that I think he is significantly better than Taylor but that doesn't matter. He's a small dual-threat QB, just like Taylor. Even with an ACC championship win he wouldn't be guaranteed a big contract. Even Nate Irving is making significantly more than Tyrod and he's third string. It's all because he fits the profile of an NFL player whereas Tyrod Taylor and Russell Wilson are significantly different from that quintessential NFL player.[Edited on September 13, 2011 at 1:02 PM. If all Wilson wanted to do was to get publicity and play against big time opponents, then he should have transferred to Auburn as he'd be playing a much tougher schedule and would have a lot more pub following in Cam's shoes. I believe Wilson genuinely just wanted a chance to play football again and since TOB decided to choose Glennon, he choose the next best option which was Wisconsin. The idea that he wanted to force a transfer is absurd.[Edited on September 13, 2011 at 1:14 PM. Reason : V I'm not faulting TOB if that is what you're implying]
9/13/2011 1:09:55 PM
Poooooor ole Russell. Kicked out in the pouring rain by big bad Tom. No one would take him but lowly Wisconsin. Wait...
9/13/2011 1:12:55 PM
Well it seems fairly obvious to me that the reason he chose Wisconsin over Auburn is that their offense is very similar to State's, so it would be easier to become accustomed to it, and also because their offensive line is more conducive to Wilson's play style than Auburn's was. Also, their colors are red and Adidas supplies their equipment. It's just like he's back at State.
9/13/2011 1:35:39 PM
Also, wasn't Auburn losing like a gazillion starters?[Edited on September 13, 2011 at 9:18 PM. Reason : Quick googling suggests that Auburn is starting 19 guys that did not start last year]

i doubt many people in that thread actually bought one. i doubt even more than anyone in that thread has gotten theirs yet. i doubt even more that anyone in that thread is regularly on campus, and i doubt even more than that that anyone in that thread has worn one of those on campus.i'm not saying no one on campus is wearing a wisconsin shirt, but i am saying that a guy who works for ESPN just made that up and knows that no one cares that he did.

I wish I'd realized that Wisconsin was going to be playing at Soldier Field this weekend. I just moved up to Chicago and would have liked to see Wilson play live with a really good team. Ah well.[Edited on September 17, 2011 at 3:18 PM. Reason : /]

^same here. I thought about going either to soldier or to one of the many wisconsin bars in my neighborhood. Instead i'm just gonna watch the game on espn3 and down a bottle of scotch and cry.I still think all parties involved made the right decision, though.[Edited on September 17, 2011 at 4:03 PM. 9/21/2011 9:19:14 AM
He's talking about a transfer winning the heisman.
9/21/2011 9:20:05 AM
RW is putting in work putting up tough numbers. Legit numbers and consistent behavior. III
9/21/2011 11:19:49 AM
I wonder if Russell will go out and create some recruiting violations along the way so he can get even more camera time just like Cam. Still cannot believe the NCAA let him and Auburn get away with that bullcrap.
9/21/2011 11:27:07 AM
The more terrible we play, the happier I am that Wilson is in a spot where he can really shine.
9/22/2011 10:25:29 PM
Wilson is probably saying a prayer and thanking God that he is at Wisconsin and not rotting away playing for our joke of a program.[Edited on September 22, 2011 at 10:44 PM. Reason : as]
9/22/2011 10:43:39 PM
Wilson this year and Brosius next year is better than Glennon for 2 years.
9/22/2011 11:12:35 PM
Yes because Phil Rivers himself overcame craptacular defenses.
9/22/2011 11:14:06 PM
I hope you noticed that our offense is terrible. And if our offense stays on the field, the defense stays off the field. So yes, virginia, offense does affect defense.

You mad?
9/22/2011 11:24:32 PM

defenses don't play as hard when they know the offense sucks. wilson gave our whole team a swagger.

wilson did his thing for three years, and the defense only showed up one year.i think it was more of a nate irving "swagger" than a russell wilson "swagger".
9/23/2011 1:48:33 AM
no. no. no.russell wilson was soo amazing, that he made the defense better without even playing for them.he also made our volleyball team better, our debate squad stronger, our roads safer, and his greatness even made my washing machine make my whites even whiter.
9/23/2011 1:53:46 AM
