my bad i thought we had Mare for the Clausen year...I guess it was Kasay who missed a would-be game winning field goal, which would've given us 3 wins and therefore lost the #1 pick which we used on Cam

Mare will be fine this year. Kasay sucks at kickoffs. Field goals are fluky from year to year, Mare is one of the best kickers in NFL history

Mare and Kasay have practically identical FG% accuracy. And Mare doesn't let the other team start at the 30 yard line every drive.

A few notable things I've heard from camp

-Tolbert is looking beastly; both running and catching.

-With Gamble sitting, Josh Norman is playing with first string defense opposite Captain (I've also heard Captain has been starting shit with some of the offensive guys, Stewart included)

-Keuchly is starting at OLB with Anderson. He's supposedly playing extremely fast sideline to sideline.

-WR's are dropping tons of passes, Smitty included. Louis Murphy might've got nicked up last night. He was hobbling supposedly

-Thomas Davis was limping around on his hurt knee last night (shocker). Doesn't appear to be serious though

-The new kicker supposedly can't miss from 40 to 50 yards out. People love him. People hate Mare.

i still dont get the tolbert signing. He was pretty bad last year and horrible in short yardage situations. I know he was injured, but still... why would we ever want to give the ball to him over cam in short yardage anyway?

Plus Williams and deangelo... just seems like a horrible waste of money to add tolbert when we could have used CB or S help so badly.

^^^Because he's a good blocker and catcher, they're using Tolbert more in the Shockey role than in a traditional FB or RB role. He's lining up all over the place. Plus, he wants to be here ... he left $1 million on the table to play here and not SD.
