Did you guys hear about what the truckers did in DC?I want to find out more about this. But seriously. The truckers could be the 300lb gorilla that we need to make the first move.If the truckers say something like, "We won't drive if prices don't go down..."I mean thats got to speak volumes. If they stop driving this whole country shuts down....like over night. VIVA LA TRUCKERS!!!!!!!!!
4/29/2008 2:19:32 PM
here's one article that I foundI heard the convoy was like three miles long. http://www.ajc.com/business/content/business/stories/2008/04/28/TruckersProtest_0428.html
4/29/2008 2:22:22 PM
I wonder how much gas they wasted during that protest.
4/29/2008 2:23:21 PM
Why don't they just raise prices? Silly truckers.
4/29/2008 2:24:48 PM

Gas isn't that expensive kid.
4/29/2008 2:56:22 PM
actually, that was funny. and if you want something to do, regarding gas prices:- do what you liberals always do, hold a protest; stomp and scream and whine in public like normal- find alternate means of travel- carpool- get a more efficient vehcile- become and engineer and design a new vehicle that is comparable to today's, but runs on a renewable resource/improve an existing vehicle- grow ethanol producing crops and sell it as fuel- raise cattle and use their waste as a source for methane for fuelneed anymore ideas?
4/29/2008 2:57:14 PM
wowmaybe i'll just move to japancause i'm obviously speaking japanese

4/29/2008 3:43:51 PM
Hey lets argue about it and call eachother dumb.Meanwhile prices keep going up.Yay americans. This just proves that the truckers are smarter than the average american.Thats how far we've fallen.Great job.The only good idea i've heard is to avoid the biggest name companies like Exon and Amoco.Whoever said that is my hero. The rest of you. I'm not impressed.
5/1/2008 12:29:44 AM
You know what the truckers did? They pissed off all of the companies, BUT the gas companies. That's because the gas companies don't use independent truckers to drive their fuel around, they use their own tankers and drivers, so all the other people driving and buying gas kept their profits coming right in. However, all of those other types of companies whose profits were hurt by the fact that they didn't get their product in, they were who the truckers shat all over. We are bitching at you because your idea is overplayed and stupid, and then you refute all of the perfectly legitimate ideas people throw out there, even if they (I) did it in a hostile manner. You say that you can't buy a hybrid because it doesn't save you money, but the idea here isn't so save YOU money, it is to use less gas and thus help the cause of getting gas prices to go down. For trying to be so noble here, you are awfully selfish, only thinking about yourself and whether it will make you more financially stable. You say public transportation isn't an option because the buses use gas. Well actually they use Diesel, which is more expensive than gas, but they get much better mileage off of it. Also, for every gallon that bus uses, the thirty people on it are NOT using any gas. Hence the concept of public transportation. And what we are all saying is that it is VERY easy to not get gas on Tuesdays. Hell i haven't bought gas on a Sunday, Thursday, or Saturday since last summer (i am looking at receipts) so I am three times ahead of you, and i still think your idea is dumb because i still buy gas at $50/tank every 300 miles. My lack of purchases three days a week aren't helping out anything, it's just how it works. The better option is not to not buy or consume gas on certain days, it is to use less gas ALL THE TIME.So when people yell at you and call you names, it's not that they don't like you as a person. It's that they don't like the people with idiotic ideas being the outspoken ones. That's what leads to cults and the Pauly Shore movies.

shit son, you just got served

You know what killpups did? Got most of you thinking about ways to save gas. Whether it was someone casually perusing the thread with his own quiet ideas, or one of you dorks brainstorming to see how many ways to "own" this guy, he got you thinking. Sure the idea of avoiding gas purchase on any given day is ill-conceived. As are most of the quick-fix "stick it to the man" ideas. But at least he's conscious of it and is open to ANY idea that'll help the cause. And as far as I'm concerned, anyone forward-thinking enough to stick his neck out to try to get people together and thinking about solutions to a huge problem is okay in my book. How about we grow up and help out instead of berating those trying to find a solution.

a more feasible plan would be for people to track their mileage for a given period- say 30 days- and set a goal to cut back driving by a given amount and continue with the reduced driving. it may or may not affect gas prices, but reducing actual demand is a more reasonable place to start. if the oil companies sell the same amount of fuel in a quarter, year, etc... they don't care what day of the week you buy it on.

HEY EVERYBODY!!! BUY GAS ON MONDAY NITE SO THAT YOU DON'T BUY IT ON TUESDAY!!! THAT'LL TOTALLY SHOW THOSE EVIL OIL COMPANIES!!!
5/5/2008 12:29:31 AM
5/5/2008 1:29:05 AM
you dodos, the price of gasoline needs to go up to 5 or 6 dollars a gallon compared to todays dollar to make you fucks stop wasting it and reduce consumption. the planet gets more fucked up by the second and more people are born and come of driving age and want their 30 gallons of gas a week and all their frozen food grown with fertilizers, packaged in china or california or god knows where and coveniently packaged in plastic trays. viva la gas tax and unsubsidized fuel costs/ less refinery production!!
5/5/2008 2:57:11 AM
I know this has already been pointed out, but it's worth repeating: if you don't buy gas on Tuesday, you're only going to wind up buying it on some other day of the week. Even if you could get 10% of the total US population to do what you have suggested, it wouldn't hurt the oil companies' pockets in any way. I doubt your little movement would even register on anyone's radar. The oil companies are not worried, because they know how badly you and all your SUV-driving friends need their product. If you want to start making an impact, use less gas. It's that simple and it's the only effective way. Drive only when you have to. Walk or ride a bike to places. Ride the city buses. Write to your Congressmen and push for development of mass-transit infrastructures.
5/5/2008 6:07:21 AM
