People on TWW are the reason I don't want children.

7/17/2008 8:45:06 PM
ha, after all the shit i've done, it blows my mind that my name is coming up in this threadi mean, i don't disagree--i think i'm a good parent (to the extent that i can be given the distance and my job), but i still doesn't seem right that I'M now the responsible one!
7/17/2008 8:49:57 PM
as for dudes, mindstorm comes to mind cause he seems responsible

the only person here that i would hypothetically let watch my kid would be bottombaby.there may be others, but they escape my mind at the moment. in any event, they could only be women and only those who have kid(s) themselves.[Edited on July 17, 2008 at 8:57 PM. Reason : ]

I don't think that I would ever be desperate enough to let anyone on TWW babysit for me.I worked as a nanny for seven years. I have heard so many horror stories from parents and other childcare providers, not to mention been in a few scary spots myself. No matter how responsible you are or how good you are with kids, there are so many ways that things can go wrong.Even if my son weren't special needs, you would have to be damned qualified to watch him. Sometimes I don't even feel qualified enough to watch him and I am his mother. I haven't really let anyone watch my son -- I have very rarely left my husband or his grandmother alone with him and never for more than an hour or so.
7/17/2008 9:09:55 PM
youre gonna have to let him go one day
7/17/2008 9:11:53 PM
My kid has a 50% developmental delay, epilepsy, and no immune system. I don't think I'll be letting him go any time soon.
7/17/2008 9:13:35 PM
do you think he'll ever be self-supportive?
7/17/2008 9:14:42 PM
7/17/2008 9:15:16 PM
^you're right in general, but this is a specific case of a mom who's been a professional nanny for years. i think she might be more qualified than, well, just about anybody.i pass my kid off to daddy whenever i get the chance.
7/17/2008 9:19:36 PM
^^^Well, so far, no one exists out of their teens with his condition. So we don't know. And I trust my husband with our son, he just hasn't had the time to learn how to handle all of Silas's needs yet. When Josh isn't at work, he likes to spend time playing with Silas and just hanging out. Not learning how to insert a feeding tube or administer medications or do therapy.[Edited on July 17, 2008 at 9:21 PM. Reason : .]

yeahjust as long as you aren't impeding it, and it's just something that is taking a little time for him to get down. that's a little bit of a hot button for me, probably because of some stuff i've had to deal with. i don't like it when i see fathers pass everything off to mom, and I get pissed when I see mothers with the attitude that dad isn't just as capable of caring for their kid.
7/17/2008 9:24:50 PM

i'm hoping to not have kids any time in the near future, if not ever or at least not be on tdub when it happens
7/17/2008 9:28:19 PM
I know how you feel. I'm aware of your situation.I know of quite a few mothers who will not even leave town because they are afraid to leave their husbands alone with their kids. I have come right out and asked a few of them why in the heck did they marry and have kids with these guys if that is how they feel. I think that is crazy.I have even been hired to keep an eye on dad while mom is out of time. I shit you not.My husband is just as capable and trust worthy as I am with our son. He just doesn't know how to handle everything yet. Hell, I didn't know how to handle everything at first.--AWW. Thanks, saps![Edited on July 17, 2008 at 9:30 PM. Reason : .]

Oh wow I had a couple mentions I love the babies too!!! They are the most fun Actually I like girls until the hit about 5th grade and start getting sassy. Boys are fun to watch because you can play sports and stuff with them when they're 5th grade and up.
