i saw said escalade at falls tap room like 2 weeks ago actually.

mine is 3something. i've wanted one since they came out, and now i have one and hopefully this will be the last vehicle i have for a long time, because i love it. i plan on it being my family vehicle whenever i start a family. but right now its just hubby, dogs, and me and that's just fine.

sounds like you have a problem. i, in no way, shape or form, think i'm better than someone with a smaller car, cheaper car, more efficient car, etc. and what an ass you are to assume that. if SUVs were that DANGEROUS, not dangerouse, then they wouldn't be on the market. i'm sure if gas prices stay the way they are, they'll eventually be phased out which is fine, i don't care either way- but for you to make the assumption that because i drive a large car, i'm egotistical and look down on people who do not is just asinine.

Just got back from Panera for lunch with the GF in Myers Park. Parking lot was full of Land Rovers, a hummer, suburbans, and the like. Got inside, and what do i find? Bunch of women in summer dresses out for lunch. Had a nice laugh pulling out of the parking lot with my Civic and a bike rack on the back.

^yeah i mean you can justify it however much you want, but the rest of the world is getting by just fine without SUVS. They have kids, dogs, soccer practice etc. I guess they've just figured out how to do all that stuff in a mid-sized car. I just love when people try to truely justify an SUV when the rest of the world doesn't need them. It just shows even more how Americans "need" the extra room.

I mean come on. "I need the 3 ton SUV to take my kids to Soccer practice".

Yeah right, so i guess all those "soccer" players in europe don't get to practice and end up still kicking our asses in the world cup.

I like driving SUVS. I just think it's a waste of gas. I mean a car in general is a waste of resources when you look at all the energy wasted. Cars are like maybe 25% efficient. I would think after 100 years of driving them we would have found a more efficient, more bad-ass way of getting around then blowing up old dinosaur bones and only getting a quarter of the energy from them. Well, I wasen't alive during the 70's, and 2-3 minutes is what i'm willing to spend on google looking for common misconceptions that people had of the rise of oil costs in the 70's.

i'm not talking about the vehicles- i'm talking about his assumption that every female driving one is egotistical and thumbing their nose at every other person on the road not driving one. i totally understand that they are wasteful and polute and that mine burns a lot of gas. i'm not stupid or ignorant. i bought mine because i wanted it and sure that's selfish and i probably should've got a prius or a toyota corolla or something but that's not what i wanted and it won't pull a car trailer or a boat and whatever i bought needed to be able to do at least that. some of it was purpose, but more of it was that i've been wanting one since they came out in... 99? and now i could afford to get one. it fit the bill for what i needed it to do and had the features i wanted it to have. so... sue me, but don't make assumptions about my character because you've got a chip on your shoulder about the environment. you don't know me. you (lafta) seem like an ass but i'm not going to assume that about you because you may just be extremely passionate about the environment.

Here's my question though:
Is it cheaper to have a single SUV and use it for everything. Or have 2 cars, use the SUV when needed, but most of the time drive the other fuel efficient car around. Like my friend drives a V8 special edition Jeep Cherokee to work everyday and it's about 60 miles round trip. So that's like 300-350$/month on gas(assuming some weekend driving). If he were to buy a civic or something cheap for like 6k$ then wouldn't it be cheaper to have 2 cars?

My wife probably drives like 8 miles a week. I fear for the safety of others, as she is AZN as well.

I would rather drive on a highway surrounded by 100 women in SUV's than on a highway surrounded by 10 old people, no matter what they drove.
