what was the most turbulent it ever got?

i would not have shared this with tww. you know that as soon as a lot of people start enjoying something they'll start cracking down on it.

there were some small rapids going down glenfucklywood of course. straight and fast, but you just kind of bounce on down the hill.
7/12/2008 11:10:20 PM
what really makes this sounds fun is the like 4.5 hour part

My roommates took a canoe down Crabtree Creek when I lived in a house that backed up to it off Anderson Dr. I think they had to carry the canoe across the road at Wake Forest Rd., but it may have been somewhere else. Either way, two drunk college kids carrying a canoe across a major road in the middle of Raleigh had to be a WTF moment for a lot of people.

could have been longer, but our ride was going to see petty/winwood.after the mall its lazy river style. we had to paddle some
7/12/2008 11:20:01 PM
the best time to go, well most fun would be after a good rain
7/12/2008 11:37:15 PM
I live right on Lake Crabtree, I'm guessing it would take the entire day to float from there all the way down to lassiter mill. I've only done Duraleigh until right after Crabtree
7/13/2008 12:18:31 AM
how many miles we talking here?
7/13/2008 12:22:27 AM
4-5

is it doable in a flatwater canoe? i know you mentioned some mini-rapids[Edited on July 13, 2008 at 1:05 AM. Reason : i think a tww crabtree creek float should be organized]
7/13/2008 12:44:07 AM
not from duraleigh rd. to the mall. after that the water starts to back up from the dam at lassiter mill and its much deeper.
7/13/2008 3:06:04 PM
so we gonna do this or what? how much funds are needed etc
7/13/2008 8:39:52 PM

this seems like fun, tubing down a river drinking people down here go tubing in the bayou, which is the same thing but just basically floating around in a lake all daythe moving river part seems much better
7/14/2008 6:06:02 PM
flatwater canoe will be fine.
7/14/2008 6:07:15 PM
no, it wont.
7/14/2008 6:24:32 PM
it only needs to be like 6 inches deep for the canoe. then you can just pole along
7/14/2008 6:33:01 PM
i am very familiar with canoes. i paddle at least 100 miles a year. in fact i am in the process of buying a canoe rental place on the cape fear river in lillington. i am also familiar with my backyard, and where we went two days ago. that being said, a canoe will not work in this section of the creek, as i explained earlier in this thread.
7/14/2008 7:14:22 PM
so did you get out and walk with the rafts through the shallow section or what?
7/14/2008 7:15:50 PM
nope
7/14/2008 7:16:40 PM
well thanks for the informative post

7/14/2008 7:26:59 PM
