Go re-read your statement w/ in context of the thread. You'll smack yourself.
7/13/2008 11:11:13 PM
I refuse to believe any of you are at fucking 8...I dont know a single person who hasnt seen the following:Star WarsThe Wizard of OzPulp FictionThe Shawshank RedemptionRaiders of the Lost ArkJawsThat leaves just two more that you had to have seen....
7/13/2008 11:11:25 PM
about 44but I absolutely hate that AFI's list doesn't include Cassavetes
7/13/2008 11:13:09 PM
I know what I said, I was remarking that movies lately suck really bad. This is a movie thread, and it was a movie commentary. What's the problem with that, Mr. Post Policeman?
7/13/2008 11:14:19 PM
Your post implies that movies previously made are superior to new ones. Yet, you haven't seen a good number of movies on this list (a best of the old).
7/13/2008 11:16:50 PM
Star Wars - yesThe Wizard of Oz - no Pulp Fiction - yesThe Shawshank Redemption -noRaiders of the Lost Ark - yesJaws - noAnd I just saw Raiders of The Last Aark and Pulp Fiction within the past year.[Edited on July 13, 2008 at 11:19 PM. Reason : ]
7/13/2008 11:18:29 PM
So?If I've seen 8 movies from the list and 8 movies that have come out in the past few years, can I not draw a comparison?
7/13/2008 11:18:42 PM
^^ you havent seen one second of the Wizard of Oz? I refuse to believe that
7/13/2008 11:20:08 PM
I've seen about 10 minutes of it, I would hardly consider that seeing a movie.
7/13/2008 11:20:34 PM
I really wouldn't consider having viewed a second of a movie as having seen it. If that were the case, I'd have a bunch more on my list.
7/13/2008 11:21:03 PM
I would... maybe you didnt like it and turned if off... I still count that as seeing it.Literally a second, as in flipping through with the remote, no, but seeing it long enough to make the decision that you didnt want to keep watching it, counts for me[Edited on July 13, 2008 at 11:21 PM. cause seeing a few minutes allows you to grasp the whole plot?[Edited on July 13, 2008 at 11:23 PM. Reason : ]

i went through a phase where i tried to watch every movie on that list about 4 years ago. a lot of the older movies lose their punch over time mainly because what was original in 1947 has been redone and overused so much since then that its become worthless. but within the timeframe of 1947 it was amazing. if you can recognize that you can enjoy greats like rearview mirror and vertigo and such (both of which i loved)
7/13/2008 11:35:39 PM
The 8 I havent seen:49. Intolerance, 1916.58. The Gold Rush, 1925.61. Sullivan's Travels, 1941.82. Sunrise, 1927.85. A Night at the Opera, 1935.88. Bringing Up Baby, 1938.90. Swing Time, 1936.98. Yankee Doodle Dandy, 1942.^ Citizen Kane holds up really well... there is some shit in there that wasnt redone until the 1980s[Edited on July 13, 2008 at 11:37 PM. Reason : s]
