my 16 GB zen can play the iTunes specific formats, it's the only non-apple product that can make that claim.
7/16/2008 6:29:42 PM
^ Who uses those formats, anyhow?
7/16/2008 6:31:03 PM
can the bigger ones do that, too?because 16gb isn't nearly enoughand really, less than 1% of what i have is in itunes formatsmost of it is shit i have on vinyl that i wanted to snag before i got my usb turntable ]
7/16/2008 6:31:15 PM
orlycoolI believe that the Zens also feature a removable battery that you can have replaced when it eventually dies, rather than paying 50 dollar bucks to get a clean iPod with no music on it...I thought mine did but apparently it doesn't, so maybe the larger models can. Mine is about as big as my thumb.
7/16/2008 6:32:10 PM
if you want to ever look at pictures or video on your player, the screen is more brillant on the creative players. that's the point. just looking at the displays between the ipod and the creative players, most people i've talked to said the creative player looks better.and i've had 0 problem with the 3 or 4 creative players i've owned.
7/16/2008 6:32:48 PM
7/16/2008 6:32:56 PM
^^ but i don't look at pictures, so i don't care
7/16/2008 6:34:31 PM
Zen's have better color depth. But they are the same resolution and same contrast/brightness.However the iPod touch uses a glass screen, which makes it a HELL of a lot better for viewing. No constant smudging or scratching worries.
7/16/2008 6:36:47 PM
http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/zen/that's the one that plays iTunes format. they've had a new product since that was released, but i don't know anything about that one. it comes in up to 32 GB, the worlds first 32 GB flash player. it is also SD expandable.
7/16/2008 6:36:56 PM
some zens feature removable batteries. i don't think any of their flash players do, but then again, i haven't seen a single flash player that features that.my first zen had one.
7/16/2008 6:38:43 PM
7/16/2008 6:40:18 PM
looks of disdain, yesit pisses me off that the new ones only come in black and silveri needs my white ipod
7/16/2008 6:41:19 PM
why would I get looks of disdain? its always been curious people who like it and girls saying its cute.
7/16/2008 6:45:03 PM
http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/zenxfi/the new creative looks to be the best flash player ever. best sound quality yet, built in speaker, lcd screen, wide range of formats...
7/16/2008 6:45:52 PM
I used to be anti-apple. I bought a Creative Zen Vision: M because it was the best competitive product to an iPod at the time I was shopping. The good things about the creative:sound qualityfile support (mainly drm'd napster to go subscription wma files)the bad, or piss poor things:the fucking UIthe fucking UIthe fucking UIthe fucking battery lifeAll of the poor things i thought i could deal with, and then I got an iphone. Once I got the iphone, I started using itunes (which isnt great, but it's ok). All of the CVM's UI issues became immediately apparent once I actually USED an ipod/iphone. I can't tell you how many times I accidentally bought a song I had from N2G instead of trying to find the associated album. The minor annoying shit that costs you money will make more of an impact on your opinion than anything else. It's only 99 cents, but it's 99 cents i didnt want to fucking spend, often on songs that I DONT like at all.Do NOT waste your money on any other mp3 player that isn't made by Apple.
7/16/2008 6:46:35 PM
ELITISM!a built-in speaker does nothing for me, eitheralso,
7/16/2008 6:46:49 PM
imo the amount of nutritious food you could buy with the money spent on an ipod is not worth it
7/16/2008 6:47:24 PM
looks like it also has the ability to sync wirelessly with your computer, as well as instant message from your player.not that anyone would really want to do the latter...
7/16/2008 6:48:46 PM
and yet32 GB isn't enoughand the UI sucks
7/16/2008 6:49:39 PM
i've never had any issues with buying things i didn't need while using my creative player. i've never had issues making playlists or anything of the sort.the built in speaker is just another feature it has to put it over the iPod. i'm sure you've had a situation where you wanted to share your music with a friend, and a speaker could have come to aid.
7/16/2008 6:52:50 PM
perhapsbut if i have to sacrifice half of my needed storage for a speakerwhat's the point
7/16/2008 6:53:46 PM
7/16/2008 6:53:59 PM
^ music of 2008 thread
7/16/2008 6:54:28 PM
more features != better. And if you want to share a song with a friend, you just send it to them via the WIFI built into the iPod touch. (actually I have no idea if you can do this, but damn you should, and ill bet you will be able to with a jailbroken app or appstore). Will the iPod support the appstore? if so, it's the hands down winner over any competition.
7/16/2008 6:56:34 PM
32 GB is the most you'll get out of a flash player. flash technology is faster than the hard drives, and it is also more reliable (you drop a HD or expose it to magnetism, you might have lost your data.)
7/16/2008 6:56:59 PM
You get more out of that mp3 player than the speaker. you get the best sound quality availible in any mp3 player.
7/16/2008 6:58:24 PM
wow, i'm elitest because I didn't want to use the buggy as fuck iTunes or iPod. My roommate freshman year had tons of problems, such as iTunes adding every song to his iPod three times that he then had to manually remove via iTunes. I don't even see why we're trying to argue with a fan boy who hasn't seen the Creative stuff himself:
7/16/2008 6:58:42 PM
creative does offer larger players, however they are not flash and i don't have experience with those that you can buy right now.
7/16/2008 6:59:23 PM
nobody's interested in your goddamned creative player, jesuswhat are you, selling them through quixtar?
7/16/2008 7:01:00 PM
^ ahahahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahhahahahaha
7/16/2008 7:04:32 PM
well then you fucking fail if you accidently buy songs. got fat fingers or something? jesus, how do you even buy songs?
7/16/2008 7:06:25 PM
i'm just sayingipods are pretty and awesomeother players are ugly and boorishall things should be beautiful or old or both
7/16/2008 7:07:52 PM
7/16/2008 7:11:41 PM
7/16/2008 7:11:49 PM
7/16/2008 7:13:54 PM
Creative found the slide to be a problem, and corrected it by putting buttons instead of the touchpad they once had all of their players going to. the interface with the buttons seems to work great
7/16/2008 7:14:41 PM
mine's not a high horseis the title of the songthat's playingon my ipod
7/16/2008 7:14:55 PM
you got a creative tattoo or something you're trying to validate?and i'm not your buddy, guy

except that it was more of a buddy guy joke than a south park jokebecause we're musiciansand care about musicbut yeahanyway
7/16/2008 7:32:43 PM
LOL, i didn't expect this thing to blow up.anyway, i stopped and bought one.
7/16/2008 7:42:13 PM
got a 8 gb nano, ported my existing music over (4k+ songs but not all on it (15 gigs)) and mashed up some playlistsitunes is ok, but they need to stream line it...i really really like my ipod though (refurbished (apple) ftw)
7/16/2008 8:58:23 PM
meh, i guess it's alright so far.the best part about it is that i can finally buy Thom Stone - Harmony on a Jetplane, since i can only find it on itunes and i refused to use itunes before.
7/16/2008 9:04:24 PM
failed.
7/16/2008 9:07:02 PM
btw which one did you buy? classic
7/16/2008 9:07:57 PM
yeah, 80gb classic.a black one. why is every wire that came w/ it white? it can't possibly be hard to make black versions.
7/16/2008 9:14:13 PM
I absolutely hate the normal iPod interface. The Sansa's is a lot more intuitive.
7/16/2008 9:21:56 PM
at least in regards to my decision, that's irrelevant b/c sansa doesn't make a player of adequate size.
7/16/2008 9:23:07 PM
