I am slowly falling in love with my neil-med sinus rinse.
3/22/2011 10:37:39 PM
^I never noticed that working that wellmaybe it only works well for certain types of nasal passages
3/22/2011 10:38:12 PM
It only actually works well on one nostril. I think the other side must get swollen or something.
3/22/2011 10:42:35 PM
i need stock in Kleenex

i'm trying to find the perfect cocktail of allergy meds that lets me be in a functioning fog
3/22/2011 11:29:14 PM
I've been breathing exceptionally clearly the past 2 days... not sure why. Normally i'm a bit stuffy in the mornings, but the past few mornings i've felt like I have another set of nostrils and lungs.
3/22/2011 11:31:06 PM
if grass and broadleaf trees bother me half as much as the flowering trees have the past 2 weeks, i'm just going to shoot myself now....
3/23/2011 2:37:32 AM

Thankfully, we'll get a little rain tonight into tomorrow morning to clear it up for about 30 minutes.
3/23/2011 7:55:44 AM
The rain seems to make it worse for me it doesAlso I saw lots of yellow on my car today

10.5 on the pollen forecast today. This shit is rough, my throat is killing me.I bought the wrong kind of local honey (gallberry) and had to go back and get some wildflower. I have been taking it for about a week and a half and can't tell if I am getting any benefits from it yet. Did my sinus rinse this morning and brought some nose sprays into work. Hope it rains tonight.
3/23/2011 11:20:07 AM
I can't tell if I'm getting a sore throat or if the pollen is causing this.
3/23/2011 11:21:13 AM
^^my mom told me to go and buy some honeynice to know I should look for local honey
3/23/2011 11:22:03 AM
yeah, if it actually would work, it would work using local honey (cause you are getting the local pollen and junk in the honey to help build your immunity)I'm not saying it doesn't work, I just don't know anyone who has done it and noticed an amazingly better allergy season (I don't get bad allergies and I don't like honey so I won't ever be worrying about it)
3/23/2011 11:24:58 AM
SUCKS TO BE YOU ALL!
Whole Foods has local wildflower honey from Charlotte. I bought a ton of it for $11 (maybe 44oz?) and it tastes great. I just eat it right out of the jar. I also bought some at the farmer's market from Johnston County so I have a stock pile. Honey has many benefits or so I read.If your throat is sore then you probably have sinus drainage.
3/23/2011 11:26:36 AM
well my allergies are turrrrbleand the meds just have me staring into space all day, so I'd like to try to honey and see if it works
3/23/2011 11:28:52 AM
yeah, there are plenty of people who harvest their own honey locally. hell, if I lived further out into the country, I'd have my own bees- even though I don't like honey, I think it is cool stuff, and you can sell it at the farmers market (or to yall allergy sufferers!)
3/23/2011 11:29:31 AM
Claritin > HoneyI do enjoy local honey from one of the booths at the farmers market though.
3/23/2011 11:29:39 AM
when I was a kid, I did have two summers where I had some allergies. I was prescribed either nasonex or flonaze (one of the nostril squirter drugs), and that worked wonders for me... then again, I wasn't too bad with it. I wonder if being outside in the woods/nature a lot as a kid, and even now when it gets warm has anything to do with that...
3/23/2011 11:33:19 AM
Those sprays make my head feel like the hulk is gripping my skull and give me respiratory infections. I have recently given up on all modern medicine and looked for natural ways to fight my allergies. I have heard that you need to take local honey for a month or more to get benefits. I will have to see how it goes. Right now sinus rinse and saline spray >>>>>>>> nasonex.
3/23/2011 11:37:45 AM
netti pots are great... feel really weird, but they do the trick!
3/23/2011 11:42:55 AM
i hate pollen
3/23/2011 11:45:02 AM
I have a netti pot but I'm too skurred to use it
3/23/2011 11:48:37 AM

3/23/2011 11:54:11 AM
Haha dunn why i felt like a DI there
3/23/2011 11:55:32 AM
if you try the honey remedies it HAS to be honey from a hive that is within at least 50 miles of you.i know whole foods sells honey from this areatry the farmers market as well.
3/23/2011 1:03:40 PM
thanks brainy
3/23/2011 1:12:18 PM
I don't really understand why it wouldn't work from Charlotte since it is mostly the same kind of trees. Oh well, guess I'll just stick to the kind from Johnston County.
3/23/2011 1:18:25 PM
If the honey is from Charlotte, it's not exactly local unless you live in Charlotte You can buy honey produced in the Triangle at the farmers' market. It's important to get cold processed honey if taking it for allergies. Or you can just get the straight up bee pollen and mix it into smoothies.
3/23/2011 1:18:33 PM
i did read today somewhere that allegra is OTC now
3/23/2011 1:29:24 PM
cold processed? I've been wasting a lot of money on wrong kinds of honey.
I don't miss this but you should take some local bee pollen, it helps with your allergies.
3/23/2011 1:30:38 PM
Yeah if it's not cold processed then a lot of the stuff that's supposed to help gets killed off in the heating process. Bee pollen is a better bet anyway. You can get bee pollen at the farmers' market too.
3/23/2011 1:41:22 PM
3/23/2011 2:51:13 PM
OK i just ate a tablespoon of bee pollen. I hope this doesn't kill me.
