6/24/2009 9:13:46 PM
Do you have a shitty gas guzzler you can trade in? The feds just introduced that new $3,500-4,500 credit if you trade one in for something that gets 2-10 mpg (depending on car or truck) more. Otherwise, just find one from friend/family/CL. You could get a new Fit or nearly new Civic and still stay under 12k.

If by several years ago you mean 25 years ago, yes. The Festiva/Aspire were not the same as the Euro Fiesta. And the current one won European Car of the Year recently for '09. It's supposed to be pretty kickass and should provide Ford with a strong competitor to Fit, Yaris, etc.As Tarun noted, though, it won't be on sale here until next year.

Tarun, if you're concerned about good gas mileage, then get a VW diesel./thread
6/25/2009 12:51:28 PM
But is the increase in gas mileage good enough to make up for the increased cost of diesel fuel? Maybe it's not as bad as it was, but it seems like it was getting really expensive when I was actually paying attention to diesel prices. I mean, if we're talking about something like 32mpg on 87 octane vs. 50mpg on diesel then I'd go for the VW diesel. I really wish BMW diesels were offered in the US. Maybe there are some new diesel BMWs available in the US (I'm not sure honestly), but they've been around in europe for some time. For instance, the diesel E46 330 is a damn good car and that's definitely one thing I'd suggest. ]

Ford keeps all their good models for Europe.....we get the shit
