I donated last year, but haven't any this year. I'm A-.
7/21/2009 3:45:22 PM
definitely. do i want to????? nah im good
7/21/2009 3:47:06 PM
if it takes me more than 4 minutes to fill a bag, i'm disappointedmore than 5 minutes, and i'm just embarrassed
7/21/2009 3:48:05 PM
You should, one day you might need it and maybe there won't be enough because someone said "fuck it"
7/21/2009 3:48:10 PM
blood bag fill time is one hell of a pissing contest
7/21/2009 3:49:08 PM
^^^you would go home and cry if you were me then[Edited on July 21, 2009 at 3:49 PM. Reason : sdfds]
7/21/2009 3:49:16 PM
i did back in may and again last fridayand i'm A+
7/21/2009 3:49:44 PM
the key is to drink enough water beforehand to avoid clots!
7/21/2009 3:50:10 PM
or just not have low blood pressure
7/21/2009 3:50:58 PM
well, yeah
7/21/2009 3:52:52 PM
What's the deal with blood bag fill time? It can take from 4 minutes to 30 minutes? I've never donated, so I'm not sure what this is all about.
7/21/2009 3:55:51 PM
some folks like to brag about how fast they can fill a bag of bloodi don't get it either
7/21/2009 3:56:53 PM
well, for me, i like that it fills faster so i can take a longer break...i tell the boss i'm going to donate blood (which i'm actually paid for, btw) and i can take a 2-hour lunch since my bag fills fast...get in, get out, get things done
7/21/2009 3:57:10 PM
i came close to breaking 6 minutes last time, but i think the tourniquet was too tight and i lost some speed in the beginning[Edited on July 21, 2009 at 3:58 PM. Reason : ^yep- the faster the fill, the longer the goof-off time Ø]
7/21/2009 3:57:36 PM
I can't give blood. I've had an allergic reaction to a medication that resulted in Hepatitus-like symptons, so that rules me out. Also, I was a carrier of Tuberculosis. So that also rules me out.I didn't want to give blood any damn way.
7/21/2009 3:59:08 PM
Yep. But as AB+ I'm a universal recipient.
7/21/2009 4:26:15 PM
you're so needy
7/21/2009 4:26:50 PM
i would if i didn't almost pass out every time i get stuck with a needle.
7/21/2009 4:32:54 PM
gave blood last weekendhttp://www.militaryblood.dod.mil/default.aspxbasically all the blood that injured soldiers and soldiers' families recieve at any military instaliation is from this organizationjust asking right now, but does anyone think 1. students at NCSU would donate to this if it were on campus2. students at NCSU would donate to this if it were a short (within ten min of campus) distance
7/21/2009 4:41:36 PM
^ I would
7/21/2009 4:42:05 PM
i donate all the time.and i seriously don't know what is up with the timing it thing, but i do it too!my friend and i actually race when we give. i am allowed a handicap because of my crazy low BP (90/60 usually) but still end up beating him time wise usually. have only gone under 5 mins once. usually come up between 6 and 8.
7/21/2009 4:55:33 PM
is anemia a hereditary thing?only reason i ask is that both my mom and i have stellar amounts of iron in our blood. my mom's is waayyyyyyy high. my mom thought she would get anemic when she was preggers with me, took supplements, and got super sick luckily i came out ok
7/21/2009 5:04:50 PM
thats debatable
7/21/2009 5:05:35 PM
haha-i also am in LOVE with the needle.yes-i love watching it go in and then the blood go into the bag (or vial at the doctors office).i think it is so freaking cool, really interesting.
7/21/2009 5:06:52 PM
well my company makes infusion & collection sets along with catheters but never get to actually stick anyone.i dont mind getting stuck at all and typically im the one that volunteers anytime its need here at the office. lol
7/21/2009 5:11:56 PM
i imagine i'm too out-of-shape for themi don't even know my bloodtype
7/21/2009 5:12:53 PM
^ I think your blood type is Ragu
7/21/2009 5:16:14 PM

7/21/2009 5:17:08 PM
I donated quite a bit of blood to the Burlington Urgent Care floor this past Saturday
7/21/2009 5:18:00 PM
i donate blood to septic system whenever i decide to eat healthy. something about drinking a lot of water and eating right makes me shit blood
7/21/2009 5:19:49 PM
you might need to get that checked
7/21/2009 5:22:06 PM
what for? im just gonna die anywayit wouldn't matter though, i can hitch a ride on a photon bound for the edge of space and effectively stop time, but im still gonna be outlived by every woman on earth
7/21/2009 5:27:27 PM
yeahI do so quite often. the last time I gave blood was 3 weeks ago
7/21/2009 5:30:12 PM
Oh, I almost forgot this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvRjGLRQQVkEvery thread needs a theme song.
7/21/2009 5:36:22 PM
I give blood as often as I can, mostly because they hound me for my O neg as soon as I'm available.4:45 is my record I think. The lady told me one time that if I hit under 4 they couldn't use my blood because it meant they hit an artery instead of a vein or something. Crazy.Oh, and about the tattoo thing, you can give the day after you get a tattoo if you got it in a state that regulates the tattoo parlors. I had to call and ask this for my friend a couple of months ago.
7/21/2009 5:45:04 PM
Last two times I got rejected were for being high on caffeine (pulse was 100+) and anemic. My blood pressure is always on the low side so I hold my breath to jack it up before they take their readings.
7/21/2009 5:48:46 PM
I like to donate when I'm healthy and my iron is high enough. Donate 7 times so far and I'm A+
7/21/2009 7:06:50 PM
i need to find out what my blood type is....i really dislike needles and getting shots cause me to get seriously light headed....but i will def. consider it
7/21/2009 7:31:10 PM
Diabetics can't donate blood, I was told. :/Sorry society.
7/21/2009 7:49:52 PM
^
7/21/2009 8:08:09 PM
^you are diabetic??
7/21/2009 8:09:44 PM
No, diabetics can. I'm just too small.
7/21/2009 8:11:19 PM
oh ok. i knew that reason. the diabetics thing, had it applied to you, would have surprised me.
7/21/2009 8:11:49 PM
i'm also on the national marrow donor registry
7/21/2009 8:12:31 PM
^ im on that too. guess ill donate some blood in fall when im back on campus, since ive been getting calls for it
7/21/2009 8:24:17 PM
WHO WANTS SOME A+?
7/21/2009 8:28:59 PM
I give blood like a champ, takes me like 4 minutes. Probably because I'm right at the top of the range before I'm considered overweight.
7/21/2009 10:28:10 PM
I have given blood in the past, but it's always iffy.I have low blood pressure and tend to run anemic. And if they wanted to get plasma from me, forget it. I'm useless for IgG and blood products of that nature.
