^Sounds like fun, if you know what you are doing.

The worst part about having a test Thursday for me is that I can't go out on Wednesday night and Rum Runners is having a sexiest costume contest for girls that night. I'm going to have to miss that. My friends and me are planning on going there Thursday, but all it says is, "We'll have something for people who show up in a costume." Thursday isn't being hyped like Wednesday.

^So how is your 491? It sounds sort of interesting. What type of topics do you talk/learn about in there? War, AIDS, etc? I was lucky and got to take 491t in the spring "The American West" with Slatta.

naw dude...it sucks bad. I am just not that into the subject matter. We mainly talk about changes in burial practices and gravestones and stuff. I thought it might be cool but I am really not liking it too much. Dr. Friend is pretty cool though...unfortunately his interests and mine dont overlap too much when it comes to history i guess.

^So what is everyone writing papers about then? It sounds pretty lame. I would have thought you would get to watch Traces of Death and research the causes of death in America whether is be politics causing a war, or diseases like the Flu and AIDS.

my paper is about the memorials for police and funerary practices of law enforcement fallen and how they have changed over time and reflect the increasing professionalism in the last century or so. some other people are doing serial killer stuff and how different wars shaped our perception of death.

That sounds doable. I'm still glad I took the American West because I did my paper of westward migration. It was pretty simple when I look back on it. It's not like we didn't already know that economics, health, and escaping problems were the main motives.

^Yep and I am enjoying it for the most part. I still have to give my lecture and finish my final paper and then I am done. The paper is going to be the worst part. The student lectures have been entertaining so far because we get invovled and Dr. Kalinga doses off and then wakes up about 2 seconds later.

Sweet! I am at 4 and 1/2 pages and still am not finished talking about the effects of drought on the rise of militant Islam in Nigeria. Then I just need to squeeze in a few pages about oil and militant islam and then the actual riots in the 1980s followed by Islam in the 90s! Then I will pretty much be a State grad!
