Apparently, the head of Raleigh Parks & Rec hates disc golf, which is why you don't see more course sprouting up in Raleigh. All the surrounding cities are building them, but not Raleigh. Middle Creek is actually in Cary/Apex.

If the course at Centennial is built, it will be the first NEW course in Raleigh in 25 years.

well that explains a lot.

seems like a bit of the same problem or something going on where i am moving to. i looked and within a 15mile radius or so of my house there is only one 18 hole course, but it is pay to play, and anything else is some odd looking little nine holes.

heard the course on centennial isnt worth playing unless they cut out a lot of kudzu. sounds like a disc golfers nightmare. kudzu is a disc swallower, thats for sure...

i went by the course yesterday on centennial

it is fucking garbage

they cut out a few lanes into the kudzu for you to throw in, with convenient overgrown ravines 4 feet behind the basket. its all in an overgrown area. the concrete tees are the nicest part of the course.

they put ZERO thought and effort into this course. It's just some fucking baskets set up on the side of the road, in a fucking weed jungle (and not the good kind, you disc golf players). very disappointing.

I really wanna go out there and check it out, but when I hear professional disc golfers are loosing discs in the kudzu....it makes me nervous.

We need to have a kudzu clean-up party.

Hole 9 is the big badass one, but if you want scenic, then hole 3 at Ashe is the winner.

tons of photos here: http://www.thehighcountrydiscgolfclub.com/disccourse/coursetour/index.html

But 18 at Hickory is still pretty awesome.

It does exist!! Swung by there on my lunch break and this is what I saw:

I have to admit, I was pretty excited when I saw this. My dreams are being realized! Though I didn't get the chance to throw any discs, the first hole looks pretty cool. There is so much land out there that hopefully, one day, it will be expanded to a full 18-hole course.

Now I just have to get out there and play!

if someone answered this already i'm sorry

do you have to be a student and/or have a parking pass during weekdays (like chapel hill) to play?

and those are some tiny holes!

I played it. Average to below average as far as courses go. If it had 18 it would be better than Kentwood, IMO.

1, 4, & 5 are pretty cool holes though.

Watch your discs at all times cause the "rough" is deep and prevalent. Lost a champ roc on # 3.

It's flesh colored and behind the hole. There is so much tall, scary grass back there it's ridiculous.

It's cool I basically resign myself to never seeing a disc again once I walk away.

DISK GOLF COURSE COMPLETE!
The new 9-hole Disk Golf course is complete and open for play. The course begins down by the fishing pier at Lake Raleigh. The Campus Rec Web site has information on the rules of disk golf and you can rent disks from them at Carmichael Gym. Enjoy!

I thought the baseball stadium destroyed holes #1-4 at ECU? It was tight at the time. Had to be weary near Greenville Blvd and Charles.

I'd been talking about throwing together one of the makeshift "throw at _____ over there" kind of courses on Centennial for a while, but I never got around to it. I was a little disappointed (and excited) to find out they actually went and built one, but hearing that it's pretty shitty, I might have to actually throw one together and play it instead.

(goes to find a map of centennial...)

edit: fwiw, does anyone else have any actual interest in this, or is a sub-par 9 hole course that eats discs like Oreo's good enough?

I played it and barely didn't lose a disc. Had to poke it out of a kudzu wrapped tree with a huge stick.

would rather not play again.

We're talking disc golf here, the laziest of the disc sports.

played the course for the first time today. IT SUCKED. Spent more time searching briers, bushes and kudzu then I did playing. The posted signs are not real accurate to the shape of the course. Several blind holes. There were only 2 other groups of people playing that we saw today. Came back cut up from briers and itchy. I shot +6 on 9 holes and usually I'm about -5 on Kaplan.

Beware on hole #2. I almost aced it but missed by about 1 inch. Little did I know there is like a cliff past the hole with plenty of bushes to get lost in just past the hole. After being so close to ace-ing it I spend 15 minutes trying to find it and fish it out.

played this course yesterday

this course will be a lot better to play on during the winter season when there isn't so many bushes. The diagrams of the holes could stand to be more accurate also. i'd give it a 4.5/10
