never even heard of jdate

i dont bother with the hookup sites, way too sketch for me.

match seems to have more normal people that i would get along with

eharmony seems like the other end of the spectrum, way too christiany

i setup a profile on okcupid not too long ago. The people on there are a little more into emo/goth/drugs than what im looking for but there are a lot of cool people on there too, and personally i think the website is setup pretty well, cool stuff to do besides just looking for people. It's free, which makes me surprised more people aren't on there.

i used to rock the Yahoo! Personals in the late 90's. i had multiple profiles geared towards different dating demographics.

some nights id have multiple dates. i'd schedule an early dinner and movie for my "looking for serious relationship" demographic.

then i'd meet up for barhopping and clubbing with my "fat chicks who like to party" demographic.

now i'm married and i occasionally browse CraigsLists' NSA ads and sigh.

I met my fiance on Match.com He sent an email about the Large Hadron Collider (because I mentioned I like science in my profile) and then said "so if the world is going to be swallowed by a black hole in the next two weeks, do you have any plans until then?"

I thought it was funny and so I responded. He added humor and talked about something I am interested in.

I hated the emails that said, "Hey, what's up?" and that's it.

Do you approve?

Thumper, do you believe her when she says that she only meets up with them for entertainment and to meet cool people? Do you believe that she never sleeps with them or has one night stand? Especially when all her girlfriends who are also doing it are having lots of sex with strangers?

My friends who do this are also in their mid-30s. I think the female approach to sex changes in your 30s.

I'm in my mid-20s. It seems there's a difference.

And my fam doesn't approve of most things I do, so it's kind of a moot point.

Hah, I know Lucy well enough to know that she's not the one-night stand kinda gal. I also know how much fun she is to be around, and I believe 100% that all her match.com dates are just a way to branch out and have fun. I've half a mind to think 80% of them probably don't even get much more than a goodnight kiss.

And my husband (her brother) met me on TWW and knew what I looked like nekkid before we even met IRL and went on a date. So...I shouldn't really be the one giving opinions on this.

All of my gfs on jdate are the mean, high-maintenance gf type. They're fun friends, but I feel bad for their bfs. That's the only reason it scares me. I always feel bad for their dates. Then again, I only know 3 girls who are on the site.

why do you people always got to be so separate?

There are good reasons as to why we have lasted as long as we have, one of which being that we put a strong emphasis on keeping our tradition alive. Having Jewish children is very important to me, and although I'm not saying I will only marry a Jew, it certainly helps.

Besides, I'm going to be a rabbi...what non jewish girl wants to put up with that?

^^message_topic.aspx?topic=574732

Actually, I favor a 3 state solution. Make Gaza and West Bank separate nations so having Israel in the middle won't be something to bitch about.

^anyone I would know? lol (you've heard of 6 degrees of separation? between jews its only 3)

Oh shit. After one match email exchange, this one guy dedicated a website to me. He said my profile made him spit pepsi max(r) all over his screen and that I owed him a bottle of windex. I told him I was reporting him to SC Johnson for improper trademark usage. So he responds by creating a web site:

http://www.lucyowesmewindex.com

ROFL! WTF?

this has more to do with meeting people in real life than internet dating, but seemed like a close enough topic to posit this query:

its super late, super loud bar saturday night:

me: i think we're leaving now. are you coming?
her: i think i'm going to stay here. but i'll see you soon.
me: ok. do you want to go out sometime?
her: yeah, sure!
me: cool, i'll give you a call. what's your number?
her: umm, i don't remember my number. you're a friend of XYZ's, i'll look you up on her facebook.
me: uh ok. ...

i shouldn't expect to ever her from her again, should I?

everyone knows their number, if they respond any other way than giving you their # straight up, youre fucked.

also, yeah someone mentioned earlier, if you send someone an email on a dating website, make sure its a statement that leaves room for a response.

I wouldn't get worked up about it, the fact that she didn't leave with you or give you a way to get in touch means she just isn't interested. She probably didn't realize you were interested and was caught off-guard when you asked.

yeah, i agree her method was especially weak. i don't know if it rises to teh level of "bitch", but it's not too far off.

be glad you have saved yourself wasted time on a lame date.

i think so, too. they're past the point of always insisting that it be meaningful, and they're past caring about the image they might be portraying. they're pretty much cool with sometimes just wanting to go out and get banged hard, just for sport.
