reading usually does. reading smithsonian magazine haha. i read about history and animals and i feel calm and bored enough to go to sleep
8/30/2009 11:52:19 PM
works for me too sometimes, as long as it isn't anything too exciting. can't do music at all - i just end up bobbing along with it. wish i could sketch or draw worth anything; i'd imagine that would be soothing
8/30/2009 11:56:37 PM
i like to listen to AM radio when i cant sleep. After midnight you can learn all about how crazy people are with their alien conspiracy theories. im usually out by the 3rd or 4th call. even though i was probably laughing out loud 5 minutes prior. my most amazing trick that i dont know how works is "going on vacation" when i spin 180 degrees. its like waking up in a strange room or something. i dont know, it works on everyone i try it on too.
8/30/2009 11:57:48 PM
oh yes! - i sleep like a dream when i'm on vacation... *sigh* can't wait for oct, and our annual 2 weeks vacation.
8/31/2009 12:02:13 AM
so sleep with your head at the foot of the bed and watch what happens. its crazy
8/31/2009 12:03:26 AM
i think i may try to give this sleep thing a shot
8/31/2009 12:08:19 AM
good luck... seriously
8/31/2009 12:08:46 AM
i'll report back on how it goes
8/31/2009 12:09:29 AM
lost my job in no small part because of insomniaid close my eyes and my body just wouldn't stop till about 1 to 2 hours before i needed to wake up. that went on for like a month before I just couldn't function.im pretty sure that was just a symptom of me quitting drinking though. for years i would get smashed and just crash. yeah probably the worst thing ive ever endured
8/31/2009 12:10:11 AM
on sundays i like to drink till about 9 so the alchol can put me tosleep. today i drink a little at lunch and that fucked me up
8/31/2009 12:22:34 AM
8/31/2009 1:07:01 AM
you dont realize how much heat people can generate till you've had a sunburned leg tossed over your junk at 3am
8/31/2009 1:09:06 AM
God...second night in a row. I dozed off about 6:30 am finally. Until about 10. Now I'm awake and so tense you could bounce a quarter off of my face. Hopefully the Klonopin kicks in soon. My teeth hurt from biting my tongue.
8/31/2009 1:26:21 AM
got wasted before the kenny chesney concertslept through Miranda lambert which was probably for the bestkenny was good though
8/31/2009 1:28:21 AM
I was in bed but got bored of laying there....
8/31/2009 1:31:26 AM
awake
8/31/2009 3:37:15 AM
indeed
8/31/2009 3:38:48 AM
I can't stop thinking.Anyone want to dwell on different techniques to build a reinforced built in-place wall for existing houses?
8/31/2009 3:44:00 AM
i just finished watching ted kennedys first appearance on meet the press
8/31/2009 3:46:56 AM
whats the initial plan, knock it out and tack into what's left?
8/31/2009 3:48:23 AM
It's a slow night at work. I'm kinda bored
8/31/2009 3:51:49 AM
where do you work?
8/31/2009 3:53:10 AM
Someone on a separate forum had the idea of sandwiching concrete backer board, heavy-gauge wire mesh, and plywood in a few layers to build a reinforced wall for a gun closet in a garage. I still think it would be sledgehammerable. Reinforced cinder blocks probably wouldn't hold much longer even if core filled up as high as he can pour.
8/31/2009 3:56:22 AM
It's called steel, you should tell him about it
8/31/2009 3:57:43 AM
How long would a 1/2" steel plate hold up to a torch?
8/31/2009 4:01:28 AM
yea yea, I have no idea what I'm talking aboutjust drop the money for a safe and problem solved, not as spacious as a "closet" but way more secure
8/31/2009 4:03:28 AM
I think reinforced concrete all around is the only good way to make a reinforced room, and he doesn't seem to be able to do that in the existing structure. Nothing lasts against a determined thief that's not met with force though.
8/31/2009 4:05:20 AM
insomnia's a bitch mang
8/31/2009 4:06:21 AM
What's the point of the structure though, is it merely for storage or for storage/nice display?
8/31/2009 4:07:31 AM
I'd bounce my pre-amp output off a shoutcast server if anyone knew of one. Got Tubular Bells on the platter.[Edited on August 31, 2009 at 4:10 AM. Reason : He wants a gun safe that can hold all his guns.]
8/31/2009 4:09:25 AM
lordy, how many does he have, 30? 40? Seems like we fit around 20 in the one at home
8/31/2009 4:11:37 AM
Yeah, I think he has some number like that plus reloading supplies he wants locked up.
8/31/2009 4:13:41 AM
I seeon a related note, insomnia is a bitch
8/31/2009 4:17:45 AM

i'll admit...i slept through the nightafter i finally fell asleep a little after 1but i was dreaming all night long so i feel like i've been really busy and i'm exhausted[Edited on August 31, 2009 at 7:32 AM. Reason : luckily i don't remember my dreams from last night]
8/31/2009 7:32:02 AM
i did not sleep at all. well i guess i fell asleep kind of from 6:30 to 7. not being able to sleep resulted in having a panic attack from like 3 - 5 which resulted in even a harder time trying to sleep which added to the stress/panic which added to vomiting and now i feel like absolute shit. massive headache, puffy eyes, i feel ill.so i woke up to do some stuff at school. now i'm skipping my 1115 class. i have another class at 415 but hopefully i can go to sleep until like 2.
8/31/2009 8:44:28 AM
The only time I've ever had insomnia is when I had espresso beans in large quantities for a post dinner snack. And even then, I was still asleep by like 3.
8/31/2009 8:46:44 AM
^^^^^Your sleep stories scare me. Have either of you seen a sleep specialist?I used to interview a sleep specialist named Dr. Edlund with the Center for Circadian Medicine. He's great ... very accessible. You may want to send him an email and see if he can refer you to a reputable sleep specialist in your area.http://www.doctoredlund.com/

8/31/2009 9:06:27 AM
the inability to sleep is not the root cause here.clearly there are emotional undertones
8/31/2009 9:06:29 AM
^ Sleep problems are usually linked to psychological problems. In addition to the robbery, I have had two scary incidents of unwelcome intruders in my bedroom:1) 5 years ago, a roommate left the front door unlocked and I awoke to a drunk college boy in my bed, pawing at me. Luckily he left when I yelled at him.2) This April, my boyfriend at the time left his door unlocked, and his drunk, male neighbor (I didn't know the neighbor) wandered into the room and jumped on top of us both and started yelling at us both. I didn't sleep at his house again after that. Haha.Needless to say, I compulsively check my front door lock repeatedly before going to bed and I always lock my bedroom door as well.[Edited on August 31, 2009 at 9:12 AM. Reason : .]
