I find it amusing how offended people are at finally realizing they were removed as someone's facebook.com friend, when the entire reason they didn't realize it is because they either never log in to the site or never check up on said "friend."

For those needing to delete friends and can't via the Friends page, just click on their profile and scroll down and you'll see a link to remove them on the left. This one works.
