It looks like a good gibbon son, I'll tell you that. Is it a sociable gibbon?

*****UPDATE***** (ESPECIALLY FOR TWW ANIMAL/VET PEOPLE - HELP!!!)

so my kitty (that was supposed to be spayed today) has an upper respiratory infection and the shelter just called and said they can't spay her because it isn't safe until she is better. they started her on antibiotics (and, FYI, she tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia). so they want to know if i want to pick her up via the "foster to adopt program" (basically i pay a $200 deposit and i can bring her home and whenever she gets spayed i get a refund). i definitely want to do this. i just called the shelter to let them know but had to leave a message bc no one was available. i'm going to call back later obviously. but my questions now are:

1) say i pick her up on thurs and she has been on her antibiotics for a few days - i have another kitty. what would you do? keep them separate (i mean i was likely going to do this anyway a) because she is new so i wanted them to get used to each other's smells/paw underneath the door for a few days, etc and b) because i thought i'd be picking her up with stitches and i didn't want her to rough house with my other adult cat). if she has been on the medicine my other cat shouldn't get sick too, right? when i adopted my other kitty she also had an upper respiratory infection so i'm familiar with those and caring for sick babies but i obviously didn't have another animal that was going to get exposed at the time.

2) i can take her back in a few weeks to get spayed through the wake co. shelter program ($50) OR i can get her spayed at my own vet. typically when you adopt, they just spay them at the shelter then you pick them up. but now i have a choice and i was just wondering what other people would do? obviously getting her spayed at my regular vet will be more expensive but i know some of you have worked at the shelter or know more about vet students performing surgery/shelter surgery v. surgery at a regular vet. does it matter? or would it if it was your pet?

i'm going to call the shelter back later to ask about #1 (IF they don't call me back first). i really want this kitty and i'm not going to give her up just because she is sick with a treatable infection!

THANKS

I did the Foster to Adopt program with my puppy... he was too young to neuter there so when he was old enough I just went to the SPCA and they contacted the shelter to let them know he had been spayed. Got the refund soon after.

This made me giggle a bit - my parents had a streak of about 20 years when all our pets were named after Greek or Roman gods. The best cat was Persephone. She lived to be 21. You're welcome to use the name

My vote is for Isabella

I called this number:

Call between 1pm-5pm Monday through Thursday. "

I'm not sure what the wait is for right now but I got Gambit in there no problem (granted, I had to wait like a month before I could even take him since he was so little). You drop them off at 7 (or 7:30) and pick them up at 5 that day.

!!!!

haha my other cat is Callie. that is funny one name is all elegant and the other...not so much. but Callie is very pretty and the new kitty might need an elegant name cause she's not as much of a looker

cute for sure, but not exactly gorgeous! haha

^^^ ok thanks! i'll ask them how long i'll have to wait; hopefully just until she gets through her meds

^^ yea i think i'll probably end up keeping them separate. just to make sure. i'll definitely asked them. called again and still got the machine

Absolutely. Pets are an excellent opportunity for you to display your knowledge of arcane historical figures (real or mythological). Of course, in the South, it is also an opportunity to show your reverence for Confederate leaders by naming your animals after them

Both my uncle and my roomate in college had cats named Mosby.

I can't hear that name without thinking about Herb Powell getting angry at his designers on the Simpsons.

yayyy ok i just talked to them and i'm picking her up wednesday and then i just need to keep her separate from my other kitty (just as a precaution) and after 10 days she'll be able to go back and get spayed!!

and after consulting some other greek goddess names, i really like artemis even though it sounds kinda manly but i like the hunter aspect! it seems cat like

well either the bathroom or the bedroom. she'll sleep in the bathroom and stay in the bedroom during the day.

they said 10 days but i'll probably cheat and if my cat gets sick oh well i'll suffer the consequences.
