i've read that lots of instances of people seeing ghosts is just hallucinations due to gas leaks.

This movie did so well in the 13 test theatres that it's going nationwide after over 1 million people "demanded" it on their website (it's a marketing feature).

So yea, go and demand it for your town or whatever... I'm not sure if nationwide means a normal distribution or if it's just major theatres.

I was hoping it was secretly playing somewhere that wasn't on the other side of Raleigh and not at midnight.

That didn't answer my question son.

Also note that I simply don't like it, I'm not saying that I can't handle it. Although I can say I would never try to "handle it" unless someone I liked wanted me to go. Then I'd go for them.

If you don't like horror, dude, this isn't the movie for you.

Not in the slightest. Unless, for some reason, you don't include "psychological horror" in your definition of horror. This isn't bodies being ripped apart and demons clawing at your face out of the bushes, it's a slow, creeping, psychological horror--the kind that's worse when you're not entirely sure what happened.

But yea.

So why the hell is this movie so scary? Now i want to see it. I do like the psychological horror. The new movies nowdays with freaky stuff just dosen't scare me any more.

^Fucking agree with you Mantis. I've been a classic horror fan for a long time, because most of the stuff that flows out of hollywood these days isn't even vaguely scary to me--and no, I don't think things popping out counts as horror--shock and surprise are not elements that require any real depth. So yea, I didn't think I'd ever be as scared by Paranormal Activity as I actually was.

Granted, it's not a Hollywood movie. Paranormal Activity was filmed in 2007 on a Festival circuit at an incredibly low budget. They do not achieve their horror with any cheap gimmicks.

It is in that it uses the style of filming heavily popularized by the Blair Witch Project.

Except it's effective and scary.

kinda sorta I suppose. It's a fun experience because you get conditioned to be more tense when the couple goes to bed, cause you know something gonna go down. The way it builds up makes it pretty tense at the end, but I like the ending as much. I jumped at several points but I was hoping it would be scarier. Would recommend though
