LOG201 - I was the only A in this entire class. Literally half the class failed. I still don't understand why less than half the class actually "grasped" the concepts. Of course this was back in 2001. I wonder if people are still failing it? It had the worst grade distribution I'd ever seen.

Phi 300: Ancient Philosophy w/ Dr Jesseph was probably my favorite from undergrad. Eng 209: Shakespeare w/ Dr. Hunt. GRK 310 Mythology w/ Dr. Packman.

Those were probably my favorite classes from undergrad because of the intersection of subject matter I found interesting with professors who were great. I'd recommend a class with any of the 3. (Although Dr. Packman may have just retired? And Dr. Jesseph was doing some teaching in Florida too, so I'm not sure if he is back yet).

Target Archery was fun too.

I'm still a little too new to grad school to say which is my favorite, but PA 601 Effective Public Communications has been pretty interesting so far.

I found Jesseph to be a very hateful man. He was a serious asshole to most students in my class. He taught the PHI class I hated. And that was my only C in college.

A lot of the philosophy professors are giant douchebags just by design. Also, a few of them at NCSU are single, middle aged, and have inferiority complexes with young attractive women. Did you get a C even though you tried, or did you slack off because the class sucked?

I slacked off and skipped that class a lot of times because I couldn't stand the professor. He would make rude, sarcastic comments to belittle students on a daily basis.

So, I am grateful for the C. I probably should have failed. I only showed up for the bare minimum for his class.

Most English/Film professors are super nice, so he was a stark contrast to my other instructors.

My classes were easy for me, but English isn't easy for everyone, so I suppose it's relative. I mean, not everyone would want to write 100-page papers, but I did, and it's something I do at work on a regular basis.

I'll never forget my first semester at state.. I took "contemporary moral issues" (or something along those lines) and had a batshit insane prof. I think the most memorable part of that class that I had was when one day she tried explaining to us that it should be ok to kill mentally retarded infants, but of course the parents aren't going to let you do that. I don't think I've ever met someone who truly advocated for infanticide

To this die I still hope she was being sarcastic... but I'm afraid she wasn't.

ENG 116? I think? maybe it was 206? or 216.... whichever, anyways NCSU used to require that everyone take 2 seperate 3 hour english classes, sequentially. unless you had: AP credit or a high verbal score on the SAT (back when the SAT was out of 1600 total points). I had a high enough verbal score (680+ i think is what you needed to qualify).

i'm not sure if a certain AP score got you out of both english classes or other scores just one or what since that didn't apply to me, anyways if you qualified you could take a 'advanced' freshman english that counted a 6 credit hours effectively but was only a 3 hour class in reality. it was great, we didn't spend any fucking time pissing around with structure or any of that nonsense, just straight to being able to distill a succinct non-rambling paper from a book, movie, or large collection of information. We wrote 6 papers I think the whole year and the final was a online/take home set of essays of a maximum length, (pick 3 of 5 topics and write 3 single spaced pages on each or something). knocked the whole thing out in a few hours, got a A on the final. B+ in the class as a whole (and I really really dislike most english classes throughout my academic career)

ARC 452: introduction to architecture, A+, it's very easy if you know what they are looking for, a process.

GN 401 (i think): genetics for biologists
BCH 450?: the primary biochem class with the old perverted lady (loves the boys) she was a great teacher but the material was hard a fuck.

swim conditioning: had a few hot girls, easy A, got to stay in shape too!

auditing tennis classes (i think i did this twice, i'm not sure)

Human anatomy and physiology: took it over the summer, good class, good teacher, cute girls

HI 252 - Modern American with Dr Hobbs
history of war - missed the final due to me not realizing what day it was on.... or rather thinking it was on the wrong day.... still got a B+ even with that 0 (prof would not let me do anything about it)

yep...Thursday nights, ahhh, Spring 2003 or 2004 IIRC??

and yes...while familiar with MASH, I wasn't other things he had done. Since that class, Nashville has had a firm position in my top ten.

One thing that UW does that's really cool, and I wish NCSU did it too, are these life enhancement courses. Really they're "learn cool shit for the sake of learning cool shit" classes. You don't get credits for them, but if you're enrolled full time they're free. They had stuff like digital photography, chocolate and wine tasting, Thai cooking, camping. I was envious when my friend would tell me which class he was taking each semester.

I wanted to go on that trip to china where he did his research (I can't remember the name of the caves). I think that got canceled too.
I got the vibe that maybe he was gay but OMG! I had the biggest crush ever on him. He was so smart that it would put my brain into an orgasm. I swear.

In order:

ENG 363 (19th Century British Novel), ENG 491H (Female Gothic) - because Dr. May is the best professor at State, hands down.

PS 490H (Reading & Research in Poli Sci honors)/492H (Poli Sci honors thesis) because Dr Ozturk is the man [no homo].

I'm in ENG 406 (Modernism) now and it'll probably be added to the list soon because Dr. Halpern is also the man [no homo].

Ali Ozturk? I know him personally. He's a good friend of the family, we know him through NCSU and the Divan center, a Turkish-American cultural understanding center. His wife can cook a mean baklava, lulz.

I took a History of Jazz class. It was all music majors except for me, I believe.

We watched a video of Louis Armstrong dressed up as Tarzan, and his band dressed up as monkeys. And bubbles. There was a bubble machine blowing bubbles around them as they played. Tables of white people in tuxedos and formal wear littered the foreground. Louis bore his typical grin.

After the clip, the professor stopped the tape and started asking questions about what we noticed about the music. People raised their hands and answered his questions. I raised my hand, and noobishly noobed, "Uuuuhhhh, he was dressed up as Tarzan, and his band was dressed as monkeys."

And the professor was like, "Yes?"

And I was like, "Isn't that, like, really racist?" And the professor dismissed me, explaining that it was a different time back then.

I dropped the class. You can't teach no mother fucking jazz without talking bout the struggle!

it's just a matter of viewing the situation objectively, without the prejudices of our time

personally I'm not in favor of killing retarded infants, but I'm sort of on the fence about hideously deformed children

I mean, if they're gonna grow up and be ostracized because they have horrible growths on their face or something, it might be more humane just to kill 'em right after they're born
