I read it. I also grew past the age of 8, and no longer give a fuck.

Anyone who loses their shit over something made for an 8 year old, needs ro re examine the priorities in their (adult?) life.

I will say that at least it looks like it has a psychedelic element to it.

That may redeem it somewhat.

It's a story about imagination. The idea that imagination is a childish thing and should be ridiculed in adults is terrible and self-defeating.

^^ There's not much to remember, as the original text is less than four hundred words. The real key to the book is the way the illustrations are presented on the page and against the text; the emotion is conveyed as much by the size of the illustration as by its content.

^^ To be accurate, most of the trailer uses the acoustic b-side version of "Wake Up," which differs slightly in structure and timbre from the version that's on Funeral, though some trailers have the Funeral version spliced in near the end.

Album version still fucking rules, but when Jen first saw the trailer she wanted the song and I had to go dig up a single because the album version wasn't the one on the trailer and brejfjkds;lvsv;ldskflb;dsljl

I really think this would be much cooler if it was rated R and the monsters raped, murdered and dismembered Max

I had never seen Arcade Fire in person before until they started playing Obama rallies & came to Carrboro along with Superchunk.

what makes it NOT a kids movie? I kinda got the vibe from previews its not "kiddie" but is it unsuitable for children somehow?

It takes the raw emotional subtext of the book and puts it on display very vividly in a number of ways. I wouldn't take a child under eight.
