Try giving advice about stuff like you know about it to try to make people think you know stuff. This thread is a good example.

Well maybe you can bestow upon us your infinite wisdom

Did I say I knew about it? No, I didn't. You don't have to be an expert on something to know when people are just talking. Being a leader is manly, so when you ask everyone's all "WELL SON, YOU LEAD LIKE THIS..." it's like how if you make a thread about penis size the average is about a foot.

So, your image of a manly man is someone who sits quietly and takes orders?
10/27/2009 11:39:59 PM
i am far from manly

a manly man can sit quietly and take orders if that's his job.

While a more well thought out idea of manhood would likely include doing what has to be done, which may involve taking orders, were talking about people trying to act manly, so it's all about image.

I think that men of the armed forces tend to be manly men, yet don't they have to stand quietly and take orders from their superiors?

hierarchies are inherently masculine.

One I thing I always found very useful when leading people is the use of praise and criticism.Everyone wants to hear that they're doing a good job and you're happy about it. Hand that out every once and a while and you'll have happy subordinates.Only the truly good people can deal with criticism and take it to heart. A balance is needed between the two, but once you find it, you can achieve some great results.

if you don't start off with authority, you are fucked from the first week oni can tell you from experience as a maintenance supervisor, pushing crews where most everyone is 20-30 years older than you and its union, you have to command respect on the very first day, then you can loosen up some later on, otherwise you won't get shit out of themand don't be afraid to make an example out of someone
