Why?

I mean, in general, yeah; to the alumni association...why them in particular, as opposed to some other cause?

I guess I'm just more philanthropic than most

Obviously, my money would be better served helping starving kids or cancer victims than stuffing the coffers of of NC State

I guess I just feel more of a connection to them....if I had a relative with sickle cell or something, my money would probably go there

Well, if you don't want to donate, or have other causes to donate to, i see nothing wrong with that. I'd say there are many many causes that do more good for more people than donating to NCSU.

Realistically, if you look upon your time at NCSU fondly, you'll want to donate more so than if it was a bad time in your life (for whatever reason). The examples that most of you are using as 'the reason' you'll never donate are petty and trivial, and I think you're just looking for anything that you can think of to refuse donation out of some fabricated self-righteousness.

OH NO THEY WERE OUT TO GET ME is pretty much foolishness.

I agree to a certain degree, but, the purpose of this thread was to get other's feedback on whether I should or shouldn't donate. What if I refused at the time to pay $33.00 and did not graduate, and God forbid stayed at Mickie D's flipping them plastic "meat," would NCSU have any sympathy towards me? I think not.

Regardless, I am still open to donating, just not sure if it's the right thing to do when there are so many other people in need out there.

The problem I could see for most people is not knowing where there money would go

Whereas if you donate to say the Jimmy V foundation, you have a pretty good idea its going to a good cause

Where if you donate to State, your money could be used to put a new couch in the faculty lounge
