I'm glad I don't have a girlfriend at the moment. Gifts are expensive.

Like I said, I'm glad I don't have a girlfriend right now, I'd rather spend that money on my trip to Atlantic City in a couple of weeks than on a $1500 pair of ear rings.

i've never gotten a present that nice

my nicest present was an ipod! and i lurve it and that was enough $$$ for me. i dunno if i'd be able to wear something that nice. i'm kind of clumsy and forgetful.

Nicest Xmas present I ever got was from myself. New car, yay! Other than that I think it was probably a ping pong table my parents got for the family one year. I'm not hugely materialistic. I'd rather give a good present than get one.

call me crazy but the best presents are things that don't stick around and take up space

consumables or a trip

I need to start working on my Xmas purchases:

Mom - Probably get her some kind of jewelry or maybe a piece of artwork
Dad - Maybe a musical instrument, some kind of Bible or Bible commentary, or anything KC Chiefs related
Brother and Sister in Law - Gift cards, because they're poor
Roommates and other assorted friends - booze.

Christ, don't even get me started. I fucking hate pretty much the entire year after Halloween. Too many years in the trenches of retail for me to enjoy the holidays. I think it brings out the worst in people. Utter phoniness, greed, and plenty of sadness to go around.

No, but she retired from her job as a nurse this year and I don't want her to get fat now that she's not on her feet most of the day.

Trips and lessons (golf, tennis, wakeboarding, surfing) are the best gifts, in theory. Things you can enjoy together and where the memories/knowledge gained outlast the shelf life of the item. And you don't have random junk cluttering your house.

People do not need more junk/clutter.

Gift cards are the most ridiculous concept ever conceived.

"Here. Let me give you currency that you can only spend in one place for a very specific amount, so you either have some left over that you'll never use, or have to reach into your own pocket to pay the remainder because I don't think you deserved that much only because our fucked up culture frowns upon giving real cash."

the best gifts that i've ever gotten were ones that someone took the time to actually to what i need/want.

like valentines day a few years ago the guy i was dating got me a tiffany's necklace that i had showed him months before that i liked (wasn't a ton of money)

and christmas i got a kitchenaid mixer. not romantic at all, but i LOVED it and really wanted one.

so....... sounds like the cell phone is the right way to go

^ i agree

i think my 4 inch foam tempur pedic mattress topper thing and pillows = the best present ever!

and i didn't even expect to get it. i just commented on how i thought his parents bed was really comfortable (awkward but it is a long story, not what you think) and then i got it for my birthday! and it really helped my back feel better.

Want to get your girlfriend/mom/sister something special that is hand made here in NC, and not going to cost you tons of $$

http://www.luckyaccessories.com/

Trust me when I tell you.....if your girl thinks you went that little extra distance to buy her something special....it will make a huge difference....
