We're learning pretty extensively about HPV right now.The ranges for people who have or had it is estimated from 60-90% (yes you read that right-90).The strains that cause cervical cancer are 16 and 18 (something like 75% of cervical cancer is caused by these two).Genital warts are strains 6 and 11 and are pretty low risk, ie-they nothing more serious than if the warts were on your hand (if im not mistaken)so in the sense of mortality you would rather have the strain that produces warts than the other one (i mean of course neither is preferred)correct me if i'm wrong

If a baby is considered to be a serious STD, then yes...we both have STDs.But seriously, I volunteered with a public health organization teaching comprehensive sex education. HPV is just one of many sexually transmitted diseases that's prevalent in America today. It's also rather unfortunate that many young people do not take STDs seriously. Even "curable" STDs can have serious life-long consequences.

without readingthere's like one life threatening serious one (maybe two, I'm not super smart about hep stuff)and then there are the socially stigmatizing ones (which sucks that they are... but hey, isn't a moralistic puritanical society awesome!)

from what i've personally learned about hepatitis.C is the bad one.the chances of you actually dying directly from cirrhosis is like 4%i'm not sure of the percentage when it comes down to other complications and secondary infections.the chances of getting infected by a needle prick from someone else who has hep C is 2%! (HIV is about .5%)also this is really cool.a new hepatitis strain has been discovered (hep G) that can actually prolong the life of people with HIV. crazy stuff
