Although I don't think this story really represents a clear need for a choice, I think I would save my kid if there was a situation where one of them was definitely going to die. There are billions of women on this earth so you can always find another one, but that kid is a part of you that you can't let die. Likewise, if I had a spouse who had to make a decision on whether I or our child would die, I would hope she would choose the child to live.
