I like the slow increase in brightness, especially when I turn them on in the morning in a completely dark room. Not such a shock to the eyes.

i've been using them since 2005 when i bought my house. i have had only 1 expire on me in this time period, and that was after i knocked over the lamp. i have never experienced any sort of flicker and have no delay. maybe you all tried them when they first came out and cfl's had their issues just as any product does upon release. but i can testify soundly that if you even purchase no name brand cfls (which i have) you should be seeing no issues.

I've never had a problem with any of mine. Can't even remember if I've ever had one burn out.

^, ^^ same for me... they've been goodAdmittedly, the light I get from them kinda sucks. Also, the only time I have noticed them taking a while to light up is when they are outside in the cold. We put ours outside on the porch and in the driveway lamp and when you turn them on and it's cold outside, it does take them a while. In the house however, no problems.
