oh shit man, suboxone sucks. I was on it for 11 months and after the 6 month I literally threw up every day and my pain clinic did nothing about it. The odd thing about me being on it was it was used to replace other opiates for pain relief because of the long acting properties. Those things make money on the street though, an 8mg Suboxone sells for like $20.I never understood why they wouldn't just put me on subutex, I mean it's not like I was abusing it or shooting it up..[Edited on January 7, 2010 at 5:33 PM. Interesting.I've always understood that street cost is $1/mg for suboxone.I guess the economy is affecting everything. For the record, stuff like oxycodone/hydrocodone/etc. were only ever designed for short term pain relief. Over the long haul you will compensate and develop dependence. It sucks but there's just nothing that great for chronic pain if it can't be nerve blocked, etc. The most I've ever seen is someone from a pain clinic in Florida who got up to 25,000 mg a month and would still burn through it in about 2 weeks. Also, the whole reason suboxone is now pushed is BECAUSE of the issues of it being sold on the streets with issues of it being injected/snorted. You can be an extremely productive person and do heroin on the weekend if you can get a steady supply of suboxone for the week so of course it's going to have some value even if it is designed for something else entirely.

I agree suboxone is abused as is subutex, but it is a much better drug than methadone for treating opiate addicts. It seriously is a miracle drug for opiate withdrawal; that shit stops it instantly, well almost.[Edited on January 7, 2010 at 5:44 PM. Reason : /]

I agree that methadone is a horrible drug. It's viewed as a lesser of two evils type of thing but I'm not sure how I can agree with it. The majority of methadone ends up on the street and is sold to those.....who are on methadone. It's a horrible cycle. If you truly do have chronic pain then I feel for you because there's not a lot out there for you. We're just not there yet.

It just scares me to think of how I will be when I'm like 45-55; if I'm in this much pain at 22 I am serious, you can search back on my old threads and see MRI's of my neck if you are interested. It's 179 degrees instead of a S curve. This came from repeated whiplashes + concussions in football; I always lead with my face mask and hit helmet to helmet. When I explained this to the doctors and they saw my MRI/CT/X-Rays they thought I was in multiple car wrecks. They tell you never to put your head down in football, but never say not to lead with your face mask.

Sorry man. If it's any consolation, this is increasingly why I'm thinking about going into addiction medicine.

I have faith in technology, I hope one day I can get relief without drugs. They are going to try the spinal electrical implant on me where it sends electric pulses down your spine to your nerves and is supposed to block the pain. I have the trial on Friday and if it works the surgery next week.I had to do a medical withdrawal from State because of all this shit, I mean imagine trying to do EE on opiates/benzos[Edited on January 7, 2010 at 5:55 PM.
