it's the same idea as changing gears on a bike.. you wouldn't start from a stop while going up a hill in the highest gear.
12/17/2009 10:49:16 AM
You think my amazon ass rides a bike?! I don't know about bike gears either.

My dad made a point of teaching me how to drive a stick at 16. It was one of his "No son of mine... yadda yadda" things. It's just like riding a bike, once you learn it, you'll never forget, but you may stall at first if you are rusty.

i want to do more with photography toobeen TRYING to drop hints to my dad about a digital SLR for a grad presentbut i still also like my good old canon AE-1. it is a trooper! and there's something about taking photographs with an old camera and developing them yourself.but digital slrs are fucking cool as shit and i want one.

my dad has a high school sports website and I've shot a few games using his digital SLR. it's pretty fun
5/9/2010 7:06:58 PM
i have the DSLR... i just don't have any good ideas about what to shoot.
5/9/2010 7:07:48 PM
nature shots are always interesting. especially if you manage to catch something like lightning on camera
5/9/2010 7:13:45 PM
i like people and things (especially broken down/industrial stuff). you could just walk around downtown and shoot a million pictures to practice.i love people pictures - but not when they're posing. i think it is really cool to capture other people's emotions. that is hard though.[Edited on May 9, 2010 at 7:16 PM. Reason : .]
5/9/2010 7:15:46 PM
i s'pose so. too many cows around here.
5/9/2010 7:15:54 PM
cows prolly make for decent photos. bodies of water are sweet, especially at sunrise/sunset. buildings at night are also neat.
5/9/2010 7:18:48 PM
The purpose of photography is to make people concentrate and linger on something they wouldn't otherwise even notice. You're capturing a moment and place for extended consideration.
5/9/2010 7:20:01 PM
^ that is why i like stuff (for lack of a better word haha)some people call it shit or junk but STUFF is interesting. trash can be interesting. thats why you gotta just walk around/explore to find cool things to take pictures ofi'm not as big of a fan of nature shots. maybe scenery but...anyone with a digital SLR can take a picture of a lillypad and it will look good cause the camera is awesome.
5/9/2010 7:38:48 PM
lily pads are pretty meh, but there's something very peaceful about chaotic events in nature (storms, choppy water, etc)
5/9/2010 7:40:37 PM
^ quote of the day. nice thought.
5/9/2010 7:47:03 PM
Yeah, I sometimes stare at a square inch plot of chaotic and violent soil in my backyard for a half hour and come to the conclusion...fuck it.

5/9/2010 7:49:23 PM
The world needs macro shots of roses!
5/9/2010 7:51:18 PM
roses and shit like that make for good shot, but they're boring. the background on my computer is a lightning strike over that volcano in iceland while it's still erupting or whatever. very chaotic, fucking beautiful, and it brings me peace of mind.
5/9/2010 7:58:18 PM
i'm really into trash and broken things and run down buildings and homeless people right now
