2009 was interesting for me.

I don't think I should go into detail, though.

Jan: kicked in the gut by ex-bff...really disappointing. was in the delivery room when my goddaughter, Emma, was born--my bff Morgan's 1st. It was beautiful to witness her first breath on this earth. The very next day, My hubs' grandfather died after a long battle with emphazeyma (sp?). Very sad, but luckily I just met him in December...very happy I got to spend that time with him--Papa Stan was a hilarious man

Feb: engagement photo session...justin and I spent another valentine's day weekend with Jax### and his lady in Rodanthe.

March: HS girl friend's bachelorette party, which was surprisngly a lot of fun! I hadn't seen some of those girls since I graduated hs. Justin's paternal grandfather also dies

April: my 26th bday, my bridal portait session, my HS girl friend's wedding, my awesome "I'm on a boat" bachelorette party.

May: showers, showers, showers!

June: married 6/7/09 in southport!! Great weekend with family and friends...mini-moon on BHI was wonderful.

July: July 4th spent in Southport! As always a great time. SIL orchestrated and I help set up for my brother's 30th bday surprise party. Justin and Biofreak70 took my bro on a fishing trip all day to distract him. He was TOTALLY surprised and the party was awesome! End of the month, thrown under the bus and pulled in to some drama also...started reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels which turns me in to a True Blood crackhead--so much it's a running joke and poopface makes it a drinking game

August: lots of trips to the beach; camping at Badin Lake for Saps' birthday! My bff's little girl Josie is FINALLY born after 36 hrs of labor.

Sept: camping at Frisco for labor day...celebrated justin's 29th bday...camping at Deep Creek at the end of the month--began to flood so we had to pack our shit and leave

Oct: U2/Muse!! laid off wore chicken suit for Halloween--won $300 gift certificate for 2nd best costume at the PR!

Nov: spread justin's paternal grandparents ashes finally. Spent the $300 at PR with friends/trivia team--was officially DONE by 8pm Thanksgiving in Goldsboro and Raleigh. NCSU/UNC game!!!

Dec: Christmas in Bath, Kinston, Raleigh and Southport are done or underway...Saps' and Carl's going away party ...NYE tbd! But I have a really cute dress to wear

Jan -- Snobama, relationship turned to the "off" position again, spring semester started (18 credits and all were engineering classes ) also became a "big sister" in my sorority!!
Feb -- Fritz died. Started talking to a few guys but nothing really went anywhere. Learned how to drive a 5-speed on Valentine's day.
Mar -- Had a bunch of car troubles. Probably the worst spring break ever. Dropped over $800 to get my car fixed and missed out on my beach trip. Traveled to Wilmington for my sorority's formal.
April -- Elected IIE President for the 2009-2010 school year. Applied to work at Burt's Bees.
May -- Finished up the spring semester and managed to keep on Dean's list. Traveled to Sweden for a week with my dad for some Volvo stuff. Started work at Burt's Bees. Started summer session I.
June -- My brother graduated. Summer session I finished up. Nominated for Employee of the Month at Burt's. I turned 21.
July -- Summer session II began. Nominated for employee of the month again. Started barhopping most evenings with my friends. Went to a lot of Raleigh downtown live shows.
August -- Summer session II ended. Went to Ocracoke island with my family for a vacation. Received the "Smart, Scrappy, Supportive" award from Burt's. Finished my internship there and was asked to come back the next summer...with a raise! Relationship turned back to "on" position. Fall semester began, 18 hours again.
September -- Pretty uneventful. School, teaching E115, school, projects, blah blah blah.
October -- Midterms. Spent fall break in NYC with my roommate and two of my ISE friends. Did my first Hillsborough hike on Halloween. Relationship turned to "off" position and will never be touched again because I'm "emotionally unattractive". But it's his loss, I've learned.
November -- Homecoming week meant nonstop events with my sorority every day/night. Spent a lot of time with my friends and family. Organized and held a Six Sigma class where I and 30 others received our Green Belt in Process Improvement. Went home for thanksgiving.
December -- Took exams. Got the best semester GPA i've ever had despite all the stress and chaos. Worked graduation and saw several of my really good friends walk across the stage. Stayed in Raleigh and worked until University closed for break. Went home and spent xmas eve & day with my family & grandparents.

2009 was a pretty good year, all in all.

Getting Green Belt while in college is pretty good stuff. I see people taking time off/working on their projects at work all the time.

Jan: Don't remember much. Had a kick-ass Polar Bear Plunge Party at my place on Sullivans Island. Continued short stint of unemployment. Did small attorney work for my buddy just to learn stuff because he wasn't making enough to pay me. Kept "hanging out" with girl who I had been "hanging out" with since last April/May.

Feb: Basically spent this month being with same girl. Getting ready to open up a bar/restaurant with my buddy (no financial investment on my part...just to run the bar/set up drink menu/bartend).

Mar: Opened up the bar/restaurant with my friend as the GM. Bar went great, restaurant part sucked. Made a shit ton of money because I was bartending every night and we were understaffed (not my decision). Expanded my knowledge on wine/beer/sake because I was in charge of drink menu and dealt with beverage reps every day. Beginning to get overworked (3pm to 3am, 5 days a week...come in on Mondays for a few hours to get shit together). Still hanging out with girl. Things going pretty well.

Apr: Repeat of March. Getting worn down by the job.

May: Girl I'm hanging out with graduates. I spend the week at the beach with her family. We're basically dating, but she still likes not having a "label", so I begin to look elsewhere. Start hanging out with a wine rep. Start bartending a couple shifts a week at a bar out on Sullivans Island where I live.

Jun: Quit the bar I was working at downtown and start picking up more shifts at the beach bar. Continue hanging out with both girls.

Jul: Become bar manager at the the beach bar, so working full time there now. Stopped hanging out with wine rep, still hanging out with other girl. 26th birthday. Uneventful (don't like birthdays) except for the fact that I had two girls wanting to do something with me. Somehow split them up on different nights.

Aug: Get a legal gig. Working part time for an attorney in North Charleston. He's older and is looking to retire in a couple years and wants me to "take over." Fucking perfect. Allows me to learn how to run my own firm, get paid, and still work at the bar where I'm making good cash money. Distancing myself from the girl I've been hanging out with forever while she's trying to latch on.

Sept: Continuing to bartend/work legal gig. Girl goes off to backpack Europe and I start hanging out with teacher/waitress that works at the bar. She's cool as shit...big fan.

Oct: Girl comes back from Europe...I break it off. She doesn't listen very well. Hanging out/dating waitress teacher. She likes me a lot, but wants to move to Australia, so is fighting the relationship. Still bartending/legal gig.

Nov: Finally got the younger girl off my back. Teacher/waitress also backs off. Start dating a bartender who I've had a thing for for the past 3 years. Things move pretty fast. Continued bartending/legal gig.

Dec: Things going really well with the bartender. Teacher/waitress is upset and wants to get back into the picture. Bartender comes home with me for Christmas, goes very well. I'm working New Years Eve, but preparing for another big Polar Bear Plunge Party. Although I really like current girl...debating on giving the teacher/waitress another shot. Wine rep girl is also trying to hang out again. Although not a relationship possibility (much older, just likes to have fun)....have a serious physical/sexual attraction to her that I have hard time ignoring.

Summation:

Was worried at the beginning because I didn't have a job and was letting my law degree collect dust (and was digging deeper into my savings than I would have liked to). Got back into bartending...which I love and it pays the bills and then some. Finally got the law job which is perfect for my situation. I didn't have the greatest resume, so I feel very fortunate. Girl situation has been all over the fucking place. I want to say I've been lucky because I've had the opportunity to be with some really cool, interesting, beautiful women this year. But its also been really frustrating. I'm a simple, easy guy...but every situation I get in always has some "asterisk" or "barrier" that keeps it from being normal. The next month should be interesting....
