hey dry skin people. i JUST got this lotion tonight and it is already helping (my skin is still a little itchy but i've put this on like 4 times since i got it and at least my skin doesn't hurt and feel like sandpaper as much anymore)

hopefully with the change in soap and showering habits and putting this on right after showering, my skin will heal! so FAR it seems to be a LOT better than the other lotion i was using so i thought i would suggest:

i was on accutane back in high school. it dries you out bad. like, cracking knuckles, palms, lips, etc. every inch of my body was dry.

all the lotions seemed the same for me, but the number one best thing i found to help was using regular old plain white dove soap. this was on the recommendation of my dermatologist and an aunt who also had dry skin issues.

get rid of all your fru fru shit and just wash with plain bars of dove. it will help.

REGULAR SOAP DRIES OUT YOUR SKIN!! save for maybe dove bars and olay and the like. but like ivory and zest and shit take natural moisture OUT of your skin. HENCE THE PROBLEM!!

probably been said in here, but I too have very dry skin in the winter and by far and away the best treatment for me is to drink lots of water.

Actual hydration >>>>>>>> hydrating lotions

I'm not one of the users who is always on here, i think I'm at about 1 post per day. But anyway, I don't really feel like I've been burnt because you said a bath won't add moisture to your skin.

Liquid soap/body wash/whatever messes with my skin. Any time I use that I am displeased. I end up breaking out or getting itchy or something. I use normal bar soap now and I'm fine, but do try a Dove bar.

^^^^ I'm not sure why, but I find your neurosis fascinating. Just to be on the safe side, however, have you checked with your doctor to make sure that the dry skin, itchiness, and so on are not being caused by an actual underlying disorder?

just for you ^ i am attempting to take this test: "are you neurotic"

but i can't answer the questions because the first 2 don't have the answer that is ME!

^ LOL! I think that means you fail the test and are, in fact, neurotic.

Just pick the answers that are closest to you and complete the test. Report back to us.

^^ now i took a personality test that says i have a VERY HIGH Histrionic personality and a HIGH narcissistic personality with a HIGH ocd personality

whoops

^ i knowww! i wore tights today that totally made my legs itch even though they are getting less dry. but the material still irritated them some and when i finally took them off like 30 minutes ago i did a lot of itching of my inner thighs. then i moisturized!

btw, oils > lotions

plus, they tend to be more economical

I've been on the same bottle of lavender oil for nearly a year, if not longer. It cost me $7, and I have been using it the whole time.

L'Occitane has this stuff which is awesome.
http://usa.loccitane.com/FO/Catalog/Product.aspx?prod=29LC200A8

Unfortunately it is pretty expensive . Every lotion/cream that I have ever tried of theirs is awesome though, moisturizing but not greasy. They have a store in Southpoint.

yea i had this stuff i LOVED last year. someone gave it to my mom when she was in the hospital (cause chemo like seriously dries out your skin) and i loved it so much. she used udder cream a lot which i think is ok, but i used this stuff:

it isn't as expensive as ^ but still pretty expensive. but it really made my skin feel good and it smelled good (i love grapefruit)

i am also having a hard time with those questions. there's no "all of the above" option

oh this is promising:

Your score is 61.

You are definitely neurotic, but there is still hope for you.

i know!!! or at least give me an "other"

they gave an "other" option on the ones i didn't need

and def needed an all of the above

why are they trying to make me choose between worrying about the world and relationships?! IT IS BOTH!
