More like 52 books in 52 years
12/29/2009 3:17:39 PM
12/29/2009 3:17:51 PM
i'd like to do this.
12/29/2009 3:21:08 PM
i'm now on the stationary bike an hour a day (at least that's what i try to do) so reading this much wouldn't be out of the question for me i just finished the Blind Side and really enjoyed it.
12/29/2009 3:23:30 PM
I can't do exercise machines + reading and keep a meaningful pace...otheriwse, I'd exercise so much more
12/29/2009 3:27:50 PM
I can't either. I get too sweaty and the movement throws me off. Instead I stare at the TV.
12/29/2009 3:32:32 PM
I'm game

eInk looks nothing like an LCD screenit's pretty amazing...when I got my kindle I thought there was a transparent film on the screen that was displaying the image......turns out it was just the eInk

I've gone over 1 1/2 years to finish a book before. In fact, there's one I'm "reading" right now that I started in May 2008, and I don't think I've touched it once in 2009. But I still intend to finish it.
12/29/2009 4:09:41 PM
I can't figure out what book I should read first.
12/29/2009 4:42:22 PM
i haven't read anything since they canceled Reading Rainbowon that day, my heart shrank three times its size
12/29/2009 4:44:53 PM
Well I know I'm for sure going to reread Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief before the movie comes out.
12/29/2009 5:46:24 PM
just picked up 6 books from the library and put 3 on hold I doubt I can wait until Friday to start reading but I'll try! Reading is really easy for me when my favorite shows have reruns. New shows start Monday though
12/29/2009 6:18:40 PM
12/29/2009 8:38:38 PM
I'm a slow reader so I seriously doubt I would read 52 books unless we were talking shit like Meet Felicity.
12/29/2009 8:40:38 PM
I think this sounds fun but I don't know if I could do one a week...Shawna...is someone borrowing your Lovely Bones after you? Maybe I can start with that one.*Do you most of you buy your books from places or borrow them from the library? We could have weekly book swaps or something![Edited on December 29, 2009 at 8:50 PM. Reason : *]

I'll pass on the book-a-week idea. I don't need to pick up a hobby that involves me spending more time inside and alone.
12/29/2009 8:47:48 PM
^^I'd let you read it, but I don't live in Raleigh.
12/29/2009 8:52:50 PM
reading is only productive if the content you are reading is worth a shit. just because someone managed to get a book published doesn't mean it's going to make you a better person if you read it. and fiction is for fags - next time i want to take a trip inside the mind of some hippie writer i'll just eat shrooms thank you very much
12/29/2009 8:53:52 PM
Count me in. My first book is Suze Orman's 9 steps to financial freedom. After that, The World Is Flat.

this is an awesome idea, but I know I won't have the dedication to follow through, especially once day light saving time starts up again. also, this:
12/29/2009 11:03:30 PM
I'm in for this. I'll post what book I'm reading as soon as I figure out what I'm reading after The Dome.
12/29/2009 11:05:40 PM
Gee, you people act like you can't read outside
12/29/2009 11:08:30 PM
not when there's grass to mow, flowers to plant, gardens to tend, shed to paint, porch to build, vehicle to wash, bikes to ride, steaks to grill, and beer to drink i could do an audio book per week, i suppose. i spend a lot of time in traffic. [Edited on December 29, 2009 at 11:14 PM. Reason : .]

I think fucking around on the internet is preferable to reading. Especially if you're just going to read fiction. I can't think of a bigger waste of time than that.
12/29/2009 11:20:16 PM
You guys need better imaginations.
12/29/2009 11:25:07 PM
ive decided that im going to give this a try, im going to start tomorrow though since im a slow reader. ive had The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway on my desk for a while now so i think ill start with that
12/29/2009 11:29:06 PM
I don't think I'm gonna finish The Lovely Bones today so I'm gonna have to rush my first week to finish it and then read book #1.

Here's a website I've been using for awhile:http://www.whatshouldireadnext.com/It's been down a lot lately, but I'm hoping they get it fixed. You can create your own list of books that you like and they will give you recommendations based on that.

Do you guys use paperbackswap? It's a website that lets you list old books you don't want, so other people can request them. You mail them, and then you can request a book from someone else. They have a bunch of books listed, and I've never had any problem finding something I was interested in. It's easy and you can buy postage right from there and then just put the book in your mailbox. You get a couple free books when you first sign up after you list some of your own books to get you started. If you're interested, I'd appreciate it if you'd use this link to register, so I will get credit:http://www.paperbackswap.com/index.php?n=2&r_by=shawnakchristie%40yahoo.com
