More than a 5K -- it's 4 miles and iirc a 5K is about 3.1

I'm always tempted to run this, but I think about it and remember that I would probably feel really shitty afterward if I actually did it.

do they even exist? never seen such things.

and they would be just as unhealthy. (as long as they have the same amount of sugar and grease)

^oh I know, I was kidding

and yes, whole wheat donuts exist:

its so dumb they have this in the dead of winter. They could probably get 4 times as many people if they did it in the spring or fall. Not many people want to eat a dozen donuts while running. Nobody wants to do that shit in the bitter cold.

^3 iirc, down Hillsborough, turn left onto St. Mary's, right onto some random street, left onto a street that goes to Peace, right onto North St (maybe?), left onto another street that leads to Peace, then right onto Peace.... that wasn't very helpful I guess

^2 It's not "the dead of winter." Last year wasn't bad at all and honestly, you warm up a lot when doing it. All the people wearing tons of layers regretted doing so by the end of the race.

And they have an estimated 6,000 people showing up for this race dumbass. Let's not even go into how much the race has grown since it started.

well if it was in the 50s it would be fine but they have it at 9am. (should have it at like 2)

race usually is in like 30 degrre weather. thats insane.

its bad when your body doens't know if it needs to turn on the ac or the heat.

[Edited on January 17, 2010 at 9:14 PM. Reason : o and i said they would have more people show up so that last part makes no sense.]

^ Have you ever ran the race? By the way you're talking, I'm assuming you haven't. So you probably should just stop talking about the weather and the temperature until you have. This is North Carolina - I don't think you can even say we have a time that would be classified as "dead of winter." It's fucking January and it's going to be around 60 tomorrow.

and to your edit: I'm pretty sure the last thing people think about with this race is the temperature. Maybe it's the part about eating all those donuts? I don't know, just a thought.

[Edited on January 17, 2010 at 9:17 PM. Reason : fucking idiot.]

fyi most long distance runners are from places warmer than nc. I'm used to running races in the 80s and humidity.

60 is prime. anything below 50 is bad for you. ya its like that in raleigh but not at 9am. i signed up one year and didn't run cuz it was like 20 degrees.

Well if they were complaining about that then that's a little silly, I think. Last year they gave you these electronic things to put around your ankle - so your start time didn't officially begin until you crossed over the start line... but I can see why those people would be upset if they wanted to be in the top 5 runners or something. Maybe they'll get in the front this year

so this is going to be my first run, but had a question for all the vets out there.

can you take the box and run back or do you have to wolf them all down at KK? I'm just running as a casual runner, figured I'd eat a max of 4. Can I bring the rest of the dozen back?

yeah, i just signed up. i figure that it's something to add to the list of things i've done. i am wondering if i'll be able to eat all the donuts and do it in under an hour. i haven't run in months, so the running part is what i'm worried about.

i can eat for days, though, but i don't know what i'll feel like after eating a dozen donuts and then trying to run.

lol if you haven't run in months, don't count on finishing this shit in an hour...

If I finish it in an hour and fifteen minutes will they still celebrate when I Cross the finish line?

Assuming it takes 15 minutes to eat the doughnuts, doubt I can do the hour.

Depends on the person. I finished in 51 mins last year running like once or twice a week for a few weeks beforehand.
