I always sleep on the side closest to the door. So at home, it's the blue side in the OP. But it varies when we are away, depending on where the door is. I am told this is a very manly trait. It means that subconsciously I want to protect her.

Actually it means you suffer from PTSD and will at some point wig out and murder your entire family.

I don't think it is specific to being manly. It's simply the shortest distance between you and the exit of the room, it's logical on several levels, but if she buys into that idea, I see no benefit in enlightening her, lol.

Most likely so you can escape a burning house without her getting in your way and slowing you down.

The king size tempurpedic (best investment ever, btw) makes it not much of an issue, but I usually fall asleep snuggled on his chest. Hes gotten really good at rolling me over without waking me up. He is a cuddler, though, and is usually cold when he sleeps, so I often wake up as a little spoon in the morning.

I think it's interesting to note that most men sleep on the right side of the bed. This may explain why women are often bitches; they sleep on the wrong side of the bed. lolz jk jk jk.

So yeah. Why is it that men sleep on the right side and women on the left? Honestly, it feels natural for me to sleep on the right side. Whenever my wife and I walk around, she's also on my right side, holding my right hand, etc...

I sleep on the right side at the s.o.'s place and the left at mine (because it's closer to my alarm clock)

You have to move all the way to her side of the bed when you first get in. Then when she falls asleep, move over to your side. But leave a little room in case she starts encroaching on your half.

I do that

ahahahaha
I'm the one who insists on the door side. But it's because either
- I've got to be up before him
- I just don't feel like being that much farther from the bathroom (hotels)
- I HATE sleeping up against a wall (the bed at his father's place). I feel trapped.

Plus, I'm always the one who gets woken up at 5am by a full bladder

The bigger issue isn't mattress real estate; it's the covers. It's better to have them piled up on the bed at your feet. It's cozier, and less drafty. You can tuck yourself in that way. Z INSISTS on having the (down) comforter on his side hanging off the bed, and the weight of the comforter pulls it away from me during the night. He's not actively stealing it, but if he'd just see the light about scrunched up v tucked in, I wouldn't have a reason OR a need to blame him for my loss of covers.

I like to sleep farthest from the door when sleeping with my s.o. Makes me feel safer I guess. And we usually snuggle in the middle, but he seems to dominate most of the bed.

It seems that hogging the bed is usually a result of cuddling up for warmth. I always get hot at night and wind up retreating to well within the bounds of my side. At least I think I do.

Sometimes Ken pushes me to edge. Because I like being the big spoon, he constantly pushes me to the edge with his butt. The one thing that really bothers me the most about sleeping in the same bed with him is if he makes my cold spot warm. I HATE THAT! GRRRRRRRRR

I would have to say that if we did not sleep on top of each other I would think our marriage was in trouble.

Here's my question for the people with problems about pets getting on the bed...

What do you let, or not let, your pets do?

If you also don't let them get on your couches and other furniture, then I understand not letting them get on the bed. But if you let them do all the other shit...then as far as the "germ" thing goes, I don't see the big point in not letting them get on the bed as well.

I personally don't give a shit. It's my gf's dog and he only gets on the bed at her house. It's not my place to tell her what she can do with her dog. But it just doesn't bother me.

If I roll over once, I'm off the bed. We have to start with four blankets for me to end up with one.
