thing is: I get it, drug dependency is bad

I don't need a super saturated mashup of fucked up druggies assfucking each other to bring the message home. and I certainly don't need to go to a fucking message board to tell others what a film's about like a goddamn front row dork.

get a life.

(ps: it's heroin)

If you got a big enough bag, I guarantee you that I can find you some. hell, there's probably a post on craigslist right now from some hooker willing to go ass-to-ass with her BFF for a couple pounds.

[Edited on January 10, 2010 at 4:59 PM. Reason : it's probably written in code, and she probably isn't as hot as the girl in the movie]

because that was clearly the emotional dynamic going on in that scene... just some random slut looking for some free shrooms

and you say the movie was over our heads?

I'm guessing my original post was way over your head if you thought I was implying that they were using hallucinogens. I was simply stating that you don't know what drug they are using, and it could have even been a hallucinogen. FYI, some hallucinogens do have potential for addiction, although mushrooms have very little.

If you're going to keep posting ignorant shit, don't get all pissed off when other people make jokes about your comments.

oh btw, opiates make your pupils dilate not constrict (I take opiates for chronic pain so I think I would know).

and the most overlooked element of Requiem For A Dream is the role of the Commercial Ad w/Christopher McDonald.

Wow, the directory commentary is insane (the director) not the director of photographer.

I'll give a synopsis after it ends, but this is even better than watching the movie if you've seen the movie over and over.

Like did anyone know the Mom is wearing a prosthetic neck/breast during the beginning of the movie?

4 different necks, 20lb fat suit and 40lb fat suit through out the movie.

Director - Darren Aronofsky: "Ultimately this film is about a addiction, this was a film that you can use anything to get high off of. Ultimately Requiem is about the lengths people go to escape to their reality... escape vacuum... It doesn't matter if it's caffeine, tobacco, TV, heroin, hope and when you feed the whole...it will grow and grow and grow until it devours you."

The director also confirms the mother is on speed (amphetamines).

Well, he's wrong... As eleusis said, "It could have been hallucinogens they were using for all you know."

Sounds like this movie was above the director's head also. Good thing we have eleusis to explain it to the world.

Hubert Shelby Jr does the screen play and the book, he wrote the fucking book. Saying the film is over the director's head is like saying Hendrix couldn't play.

quit quoting the fucking wiki page. the director even stated the movie wasn't about heroin.

whoever claimed that heroin caused dialation of the pupils is a fucking moron.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miosis

Quote :
"Miosis is constriction of the pupil of the eye. This is a normal response to an increase in light but can also be associated with certain pathological conditions, microwave radiation exposure, and certain drugs, especially opiates.

The opposite, mydriasis, is the dilation of the pupil.

I never made reference to what the mother was taking. I was specifically referring to the younger three that were abusing black market drugs. Quit making up a storyline just so you can have a point to argue.

watching them film the scene with the mother cleaning in the fat suit was amazing.

you're too fucking stupid to know whether your eyes are dilating or constricting when you take your own so-called prescribed medication, so how can I expect a fucktard like you to comprehend director's commentary?

btw, I own the same Blu-Ray film, as well as numerous other people. Did you think they stopped making them when you bought yours?

I hope this is a joke, looking in the mirror at my pupils is an obvious way to tell. I agree that hallucinogens cause larger dilation, but Opiates also cause this. Do you take opiates? I didn't think so.

looking in the mirror in an underlit room will still cause your pupils to dilate - just not as much as they would be if you weren't taking those drugs.

why don't you go ahead and find one single credible source to back up your claim that opiates cause pupil dilation before you act like your mirror test is valid.

just noticed this on the back of the book and thought I would share for all the heroin nay sayers:

Quote :
"...while her junkie son, Harry, along with his girlfriend Marion and his best friend Tyrone, have devised an illicit shortcut to wealth and leisure by scoring a pound of uncut HEROIN."

the book is about heroin because it was written by a degenerate junkie. The movie is intentionally vague about naming street drugs because the director wants people to draw similes with prescribed drugs, TV addiction, etc, to the plight of the other addicts.

I guess you have no idea about Selby's TB from childhood, calling him a junkie is like calling a cancer patient a drug addict for using pain medicine.

Not to mention the book was the sole basis for the movie, so saying the Book is about heroin but the movie isn't is pretty asinine.
