The car that made these two, equal-length tire marks had positraction. You can't
make those marks without positraction, which was not available on the '64 Buick Skylark!

I probably woulda got the plates and gone stumbling out in the night to inform the car owners of the incident.

And somehow managed to get arrested.

I bumped the car next to me parking in college and since it left a little dent and some paint, I left a note. Didn't think it would matter because the car was already a little beat up. Well, the girl called me and I ended up paying $300 out of pocket to avoid my insurance jumping up (because I couldn't afford it), and bitch never even got the car fixed!

Small parking lot incidents are considered no-fault, or something...if there isn't significant damage, you just shouldn't worry about it. THIS, however, does not fall into that category, and sucks. I hope they figure out who did it!

just to be clear, and for everyone else who's been upset by something like this...

you're not paying for them to fix their car... you're paying to compensate them for a loss of value to their car because of your actions

And I'm sure in that 8 years, you've saved far more money than this damage will cost by having liability instead of full coverage.

Which is why people do it, to whomever asked.

was the car heading into or out of the apartment complex? If they were heading in, I'd be checking for signs of one of my neighbors getting a new vehicle.

at least this guy demolished his truck so bad that he couldn't drive off from the scene. It's a good thing he did, because I jumped out of bed when it happened and would have chased them down if need be.

How the hell would you have chased them down if your car was FUBAR?

I mean

come on

...

it's the same thing when someone hits your car in the parking lot and someone asks if a note was left

I'm like

really?

really?

seriously?

there's only one entrance in and out of the place, and my apartment was 50 feet from that entrance. I could have at least got a license plate number.

Without having a shotgun in my hands, I wouldn't really consider being anywhere that's not behind reinforced concrete with a driver like that on the loose.

I was out of my apartment, Glock in Hand, within 30 seconds of the wreck.

I expected you to have a sentiment like this of some kind.

To be fair, you... a nutjob marine... yes, I expect that you would jump out of bed at 3am in the morning to fully check what the fuck happened and be all up on scene.

But for the rest of us... not so much.

I've gotten up in the middle of the night when I hear a commotion and ran out with a 4D mag-lite to find out it was the cops.

So your faith in humanity wasn't shaken by the Holocaust, the Khmer Rouge, or the Inquisition, but after one drunk hit and run you're done with it?

for my money, the greater crime commited by the Spanish was the near complete destruction of the mayan literature

for me, that trumps the inquisition every fucking time

you heard squealing tires... and went to check it out?

am I catching that right?

...

actually, it doesn't matter... everyone doesn't need to give their one bullshit story on how they weren't a complete waste to society (and yet probably still were)...

jeez

I heard a car screeching to a halt, and the headlights (so I thought) were shining into my room's window.

Not only did I investigate what the fuck was going on at 3 a.m., I found out that a neighbor's house has been broken in to while occupied. While the cops were searching around the neighborhood with a slow drive-by and their search lights, I consoled my fucking freaked out neighbors. I left them my phone number and my flashlight in case anything else happened. They moved out a few weeks later, maybe because it's motherfucking Rocky Mount.

1. twista wins this thread
2. that sucks dude
3. to the troll talking about people not investigating noises, etc., I investigate them... if I hear strange shit, I want to know what's going on. And if sounds like a vehicular crash, then I'm sure as hell going outside to see if my vehicle was involved. But most importantly, I investigate shit for safety - you never know when it will be some moron up to no good... And by doing this, I've witnessed and help "solve" two hit and runs... so yeh... I leave my cozy bed to check out this shit....
