No offense man, but I find it ironic that you always talk about making financially sound decision, yet you go have a baby out-of-wedlock and ended up throwing away thousands of dollars on lawyers.

^1) Apparently you, and some other posters, need a refresher on how that baby came to be2) Are you trying to insinuate that the efforts he's made to be a good father are not a sound financial decision? In other words, are you meaning to say that there is/should be a price on a healthy parental relationship?

^^^People value things different. I applaud this man for doing all that he can to be a part of this child's life and hopefully bettering her future by influencing her in a positive manner that, from the sounds of it, her mother cannot provide.I'm stingy on my grocery shopping, but that doesn't stop me from throwing down Benjamins on my car projects. To each their own. Ironic, yes , but definitely not a bad thing.[Edited on January 13, 2010 at 9:49 PM. Reason : .]

Well having a kid whether married or not is usually never a sound financial decision.

So today, I sent a certified letter to my old roommate, requesting that he pay me back for the 2 checks that bounced, plus $60 worth of processing fees. He has two weeks, and then I can have him charged criminally. After that, I went upstairs and filed a small claims lawsuit against him for the remainder of what he owes me.I emailed my lawyer (family law) 2 nights ago--coincidentally, the next morning, my ex FINALLY responded back and said I could have my daughter during the dates I asked for. She was a bitch about it ("get off my back, i have issues i'm working through, i'm not ignoring you , etc. Oh, and "I'm really serious about her maintaining her schedule and minding her manners." Called it. My 10th and final message to her was somewhat less polite than before...I think maybe she recognized the pattern of "nice...nice...nice...nice...nice...nice...nice...WTF, BITCH...lawyer gets involved" and responded before that next step came.
