i wasnt complaining.
and i wasnt trying to be mean.
i had fun.
i felt like the bride was more concerned about how she looked that the fact she was getting married.
i mean, that may have not been the case, but it seemed that way.

cori and i had a long talk about that the other day actually.
about how some weddings are completely not our style and hell, maybe we think they are ugly.
and we feel bad saying it's ugly when usually it's just a matter of different tastes.

and your right about the spending thousands of dollars.
some people think it's stupid.
other's don't.

its a preference, i just dont understand the need to belittle the other person because they have a different opinion.

I think it depends what you view the wedding as.

For me, I see it as kind of a big reunion. Family you don't get to see very often and all your close friends coming together for a big party. And it's a way for your family to meet his family. And at least with my family, if you're going to have a reunion it better have good food and good booze

well i guess its all relative

i know for a fact there is no wedding fund from the parents

and there is no fucking way im going into debt for a wedding

so i have really reasonable expectations for myself

Yeah going into debt for a wedding is stupid. I'm getting no dough from the parents either but with enough creativity you don't need to spend the industry average of $27,000 on a wedding Our budget is definitely way less than half of that.

I think the "hate" from me comes from the fact that I'm weirded out by married people (and those that intend to do it)

They treat their relationship like a very important, independent person (or a pet, or something). They want everybody to know about the relationship, its developments, and its results. Really don't give a fuck beyond the basics, so all of the neurotic disclosing of this information makes me uncomfortable.

I don't like when married couples completely disregard the fact that they're individuals and go into that "we" crap for everything.

I agree - weddings are fun, the receptions are more fun, and seeing my friends happy is the greatest.

but do I ever want to plan one? helllllllllll no. I want to elope. or do something tacky in Vegas.

That creeps me out too. It creeps me out in general when couples can't seem to do anything independent of each other.

I agree. I honestly think some corny tacky wedding in Vegas would be a hell of a lot more fun and would make for a better story later on down the road.

Take the money you would have blown on a wedding, gather up some of your closest friends, fly them all out to Vegas and get married in some cheesy chapel and then spend a few days having a fucking blast.

Trust me, it will be a lot more fun and a lot more memorable than some regular old boring wedding.

Take these two scenarious:

So, Mark, where did you get married?

Oh, we had a nice little ceremony in my wifes home town of Burlington, it was really nice, all the family was there.

Oh, cool man, that sounds really.....nice?

OR

Yeah so instead of the normal old boring wedding, we decided to get a bunch of our friends together, fly them all out to Vegas, we had a cheesy wedding in one of those corny typical Vegas wedding chapels and then spent the next few days livin it up. It was fucking great.

AWESOME DUDE! That is siiiick.

You shouldn't need some big expensive wedding to show people your styles, or how much you love each other, or shit like that.

Those things should already be obvious, if not, then perhaps you shouldn't be getting married.

I refuse to marry someone who wants a big normal traditional wedding.

That is definitely a "deal breaker."

I wonder how many people still do the "traditional" wedding these days. Seems like online everyone is getting more funky with weddings. Or maybe that's just the weddings that make their way online

i honestly like vegas, but ive been there before.

i want to experience a wedding.
in my moms back yard.
with my grandma and her little sequin, dressy clutch she's had for years.
and eat dinner with the napkins cody's mom is making.
and dance with malaki.
and give ariel high fives.

i want my daddy to walk me down the isle.
and then i want to come back and walk him out.

i want to write our own vows and recite them in front to of everyone.

and i want my friends and family there.
not just a few of them, but a lot of them.
and thats just me.

hell yeah, vegas sounds fun, but its not what i want.

I would bet all the money I make in my entire life that the two of you are going to get some sort of matching tattoos or some lame shit with your names or initials or something.

There is no way that doesn't happen.

Almost as original as a wedding in you backyard.

hahaha

I did that in college with a girl I hooked up with once. When we got back in the fall I had a fake "PROPERTY OF ****" tattoo on my ass cheek.

I got a ton of booty from her after that. Later I found out she was engaged.
