its safe to assume no matter who became president, it would only be for one term. there's just too much going on to handle and whoever was in place would get the blame. mccain or hilary would both be looking at the same problem.

Last time we went through this cycle of "Terrible Republican followed by nice Democrat who promised us the moon," we got Reagan out of it. I'm just worried we won't reanimate the Gipper's corpse in time for this round.

^Not too much difference between McCain and Obama, except that McCain has to take more viagra.

Imagine if Hillary was elected. Her speeches would be so bitchy for 3-4 days every month.

That's because Bush is on the same level of mental capacity as the kids, no offense to the children.

The only thing I would consider noteworthy in Obama's quest for doing anything worth a f*** is the 400.00 "stimulus" that appeared on my refund.

no "stimulus" credit gets my vote as anything but idiocy

then again, the purpose of it is not to stimulate the economy, but to convince the idiots that their government is fixing the problem, so i guess it works...sort of

Two years ago the national debate centered around whether or not we should torture.

Now, the national debate is centered around providing affordable healthcare for the entire nation.

Improvement? I think so.

healthcare is pretty much fine where it is now - why change it?

The fact that Obama made a separate speech using the teleprompter at the school is not the real issue. The real issue is that Obama using a teleprompter before a 6th-grade class seemed entirely plausible.

and to say that a shift in the national debate from the morality and legality of torture to the need to improve the healthcare for all Americans isn't improvement? wait, what?

The United States still uses rendition, still uses enhanced interrogation techniques, and Gitmo is still open.

appearantly you missed something there pinky:

1) waterboarding is not torture (i am assuming this is your next argument)
2) healthcare should only be for those willing to put back into the system (unless they have reached retirement, or disabled)

If these conversations were progressing, shouldnt they be able to come to a conclusion on these items before moving on? Healthcare wont get passed, and we will move on to the administrations next failure.

If you don't think that affordable healthcare is a good thing for America, then we really don't have anything to discuss because you obviously hate this country.

As for waterboarding: "Waterboarding is considered a form of torture by legal experts, politicians, war veterans, medical experts in the treatment of torture victims, intelligence officials, military judges and human rights organizations." -wiki

so yeah, you're not too bright. Just cause frat boys do it to their pledges, doesn't make any better.

again, i make the point - if you are willing to work for it, then it is affordable. If not, folks like me dont want to give it you those who dont. If you want a free ride, go to Europe.

oh - and if it was up to teh majority, enahnced interrogation techniques would be expanded and would be legalized. What do you care about some terrorist rights?

^you're incredibly close-minded. You obviously have no grasp of the state of things in this country.

there are millions of people who work hard every single day, yet they can't afford the ever-increasing cost of healthcare. Affordable can be defined as healthcare that the average Joe can afford without going bankrupt the first time he has to pay for chemotherapy for himself or his family.

Don't be that guy. Wait, you are that guy because you said waterboarding isn't torture.

The hilarious thing about people who deny that waterboarding is torture is that after every one of them is waterboarded, they admit that it's torture. This has happened with numerous conservative pundits. Look it up.

Banned Techniques Yielded 'High Value Information,' Memo Says
April 21, 2009

Quote :
"WASHINGTON – President Obama's national intelligence director told colleagues in a private memo last week that the harsh interrogation techniques banned by the White House did produce significant information that helped the nation in its struggle with terrorists.

'High value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used and provided a deeper understanding of the al Qa’ida organization that was attacking this country,' Adm. Dennis C. Blair, the intelligence director, wrote in a memo to his staff last Thursday."

Blair assumed office in January 2009--for the Obama administration. The leaked memo at issue was Blair writing about enhanced interrogation techniques under the Bush administration that produced "high-value information," you dolt.

he sure could. but history would show that while he does that he reads from a children's book upside down.

also i don't get all the shit about teleprompters. bush arguably should have used them more based on his bushisms. but many people and public speakers use them. obama largely writes his own speeches, which is a far more amazing and respectable feat than the average leader. i'm guessing all of you who are giving him shit for that never used note cards for clues during your speeches in school.
