The guy called in the order. Obviously he didn't have the sign right in front of his face. There are more professional ways to handle the situation. Not: (paraphrasing) "Haha, you fucked up. Now you can pay $12.40 for a small pizza or you can watch me throw it away and wait another 10 minutes while I make a large pizza that you can have for $10."

Believe me, I've given away MILES of free food because I or another employee fucked up. We typically give a refund PLUS free food for their next visit. I've been doing this for a minute. Some people are just assholes from the outset. I mean, seriously...there are TONS of ppl who come into ruckus beyond age 60 who dish it out like you wouldn't believe. This guy is one fucking class A wretch.

This guy wanted to pay 10 dollars instead of 12 dollars for his small upon finding out he could have gotten a large for 10. I think this is the real lesson here. Clearly not everyone that comes to Ruckus is a smart ass, or perhaps people just have bad days and don't want to be joked around with. As GM, while continuing to enforce the precedent that a special is a special, you as GM shouldn't quip with "well, who ordered the small?" with a customer.
