lol at this thread

sorry about your car, though.

if only there were some other area where gear heads converse that you could have asked. although if such a place existed, their solution likely would be to trade your car for an e36.

"what she's failed to really get across is the fact that the gauge needle is stuck under the stop peg.... she's wondering how to fix that...

a new battery shouldn't have affected this at all..."

Soooo a few months after I got my truck, I had some crazy things happen with my gauges, specifically, my speedometer. I was driving to Winston Salem with the SO and he was driving. And we hit some traffic in Chapel Hill but after then, traffic was decent and we couldn't understand why we were passing people like crazy when we were only going like 70mph on 40. LOL

Well the battery light came on and we stopped and got a different battery. When we looked at the speedometer, the needle wasn't moving where it needed to be when we were driving. We thought somehow we changed the settings to read on kilometers, but the needle was just screwed.

So after reading on chevy silverados, I found that there are certain years where there was a recall on the gauge; the motor that controls the movement of the needle wears out. To replace that, I was looking at about 700.00! But my uncle works at the Chevy dealership in cary and was able to get the thing replaced. I am soo happy for my uncle :-)

But back to your situation... I think its cute how you drew pictures to demonstrate your car's broken gauges. I hope you get it fixed soon...

Yeah I'm pretty much just gonna have to keep up with the mileage now so I don't run out of gas, and just top it off as often as I can.

if you put the same amount of gas in everytime and drive clost to the same route day to day. it isnt that hard. i dont need an idiot gauge to tell me when im running out of gas.

Yeah....that's what I do...I mean I pretty much know that on a full tank of gas with my regular schedule I can drive two weeks....

But I guess I'll just start a routine of putting gas in on Sundays or something...just to be sure...
