no offense to SOMEONE but jimmy john's isn't THAT great (i don't want to insult anyone's place of employment)

HOWEVER when i'm hungover and don't want to move, then yes, jimmy john's is my go to

(i might have a SMALL addiction to the beach club, though.)

Billytalent got mad at me for a comment that wasn't meant to be to him.

I feel forever scorned.

you have less than 30 seconds to live

I looooooooove jimmy johns!

I've heard good things though, so I'll have to try it out soon."

I was the same way until a few weeks ago - I've lived in the area for about 10 years and pass it all the time but have never been. I was craving jj's but I didn't want to drive all the way down hboro st (I was at meredith and only had 20 minutes to spare), so I checked out subconscious. it was delicious and the people there were really nice. so for me:

jj > subconscious > jersey mikes >>>> subway >>>>>>>>>>>>>> quiznos

I can't believe Linda actually said that Subway is better than Quizno's. That contest isn't even close.

Jersey Mike's > Jimmy John's > Quizno's > Subway.

Haven't been to Subconscious in like 7 years so I don't remember well enough to rate them. Blimpie it's been longer than that. Firehouse never at all.

HT's subs are a damn good value and pretty tasty too, but I didn't place them in the hierarchy. So there.

Another JJ's complaint. Their subs are too small. They have quite the small diameter.

you can't make a jimmy john's sandwich at home

to use the ingredients before they went bad you would have to eat the same sandwich every day for a fucking week

and it wouldn't taste the same

Now I want Jimmy Johns? Though, I had this conversation with my wife. Jimmy Johns is a whole different kind of sandwich than say, Firehouse. Like comparing Taco Bell to Bojangles. Not really quite the same. Thats just my opinion. Hot sandwiches and cold sandwiches are two different beasts.

That said, anyone try Which Wich over across from the Hospital at Blue Ridge and Lake Boone? We like that place... MrsCake a little more than me... but it's decent. A little gimmicky at first what with the bags and shit, but they make a decent sandwich.

You can get day-old bread for .45 - whole loaf - and then buy some meat/cheese at the Food Kitty.

The main problem with the sandwiches is the amount of sodium in them -- Ladies, this means us and our water retention . Beach Club has 1500mg. JJ Garg has 2900mg. The best you can get is a #6 veggie, hold the mayo & chese: 500mg.
Working there, I saw countless girls come in from jogging and get a #12 with bacon (but hold the mayo) and oil&vinegar, and chips & a drink. Just b/c it *says* "Beach" doesn't mean you'll look good out there after eating those all winter.

Go to Menu>Nutritional Information and make your sub with their online sub maker and see how many calories you scarf down. http://www.jimmyjohns.com

I ate at that Subconcious place for the first time last week or so. It was super delicious for the price. Better than JJ's,imo. But, I agree with whoever said they thought it was a front...I always thought it was sketch and a front as well, but turned out to be great!

Sliced deli meat isn't a glass of milk sitting in the hot sun, it keeps fresh for two weeks easily, and if it lasts that long, just get a smaller portion at your deli. I swear, people think there's magic in a sub shop, but they simply do what your local Food Lion and HT have done since the dawn of time, they use a slicer and they cut their goddamn deli meat. If you make it yourself it's cheaper and you can put more of what you love on it. There is NOTHING about those sandwiches you can't recreate at home, and they can definitely be improved upon.

Subways is at the bottom of the sub chain because they don't cut deli meat, it gets shipped to them in plastic wrap. I don't know if JJ cuts their own meat, but they sure as fuck better.
