Yeah, you always gotta check the dates at place like TW or Peace Street

I like 6-12, and the dude who owns it is pretty cool and will order stuff for you, plus the whole not upcharging for singles is awesome, they just don't have the space to get all the new stuff Peace Street can get.

Good for you, drinking craft beer not only helps support small and independent businesses but it tastes great too. It's a very affordable luxury in the scheme of things.

North Carolina needs to lax up on the liquor laws so that people can make their own micro batches and sell more variety. getting rid of ABC stores would be a good step in the right direction.

not really a good thing so far. i've spent way more money on different beers (trying all sorts of stuff) and my new favorite place to drink is Village Draft House and Flying Saucer it's a far cry from the $2.50 Domestics i'm used to

eh, the sour beers are kind of hard to get into, especially for a recently converted BMC drinker...they're expensive and idiosyncratic though I personally enjoy them.

The Total Wine in G'Boro can be decent; they stock a nice selection of seasonals but once they are gone they are gone. They also will clearance sell their seasonals; I got a 2 22oz bottles of Cold Mountain to store away.

we could probably agree that you are the exception rather than the rule though. Also Allagash Interlude is probably the best sour beer I've ever had...too bad it's almost $20 for a 750ml. I think they have it on tap at The Pitt though.

Iron City Beer is pretty good for when I'm feeling all nostalgic...and Amee (I think that's her name) at Total Wine (on Capital) knows all the best beers.

Pyramid Hefeweizen is one of my favorites, but my all time favorite is Outer Banks Brewing Station's Lemongrass Wheat.

I am a fan of Total Wine. I'm not a big wine drinker, but I went there after Christmas this year to find a decent bottle, and the shit the guy suggested based on my preferences turned out to be the best wine I've ever had.

Funny story about Friday when I was there. I asked a guy if they carried Dragon's Milk. He says they don't, and is like, "You won't find that stuff around here."

I say to him, "Well, the Saucer had it last weekend."

"No, I'm pretty sure they didn't."

"Uh, yes, they did. That's when my husband tried it, loved it, and that's why I'm here looking for it now."

"Well, we don't have it. And you won't find it in stores around here. Sorry."

Fast forward twenty minutes, and I'm at Whole Foods in Cary getting a salad for dinner. Lo and behold, a 24oz bottle of Dragon's Milk.

I will never ask another TW employee to help me find anything.

it's some high-gravity beer by New Holland Brewing Company

http://newhollandbrew.com/corp/beer/high_gravity

Quote :
"Dragon's Milk - Ale Aged In Oak Barrels
The beer you hold in your hand, Dragon’s Milk Ale, is a crown jewel of New Holland Brewing Company. It is the unrivaled result of painstaking processes - both creative and scientific.

We could tell you about the centuries-old tradition of the term, Dragon's Milk, or we could tell you about the history, craftsmanship and challenges of important, the beer inside this bottle.

Expect a complex ale with a soft, rich caramel-malt character intermingled with deep vanilla tones; all dancing in an oak bath. Unmistakably distinctive example of New Holland’s Art in Fermented Form.

23° Plato, Alc. 10% by Vol.

Available in:
22 oz • Growler • Half Barrel • Pub Draught • Sixth Barrel"

no, it proved that the kid walking around offering to help people didn't know his stuff. and they had everything else i went for. dragon's milk was the only one i didn't find there.

oh no, there's one beer they don't carry that i was looking for. i should boycott them.
